Reminder that seven Democratic senators voted to confirm Kristi Noem and six Dem senators declined to vote either way.

She was confirmed, 59-34.

The good faith experiment is clearly over, and we need the Democratic senators who didn't stand against her nomination to be loud as hell right now.

I'm so grateful David Huerta is free and grateful for a powerful worker movement that mobilized to demand his release. But David should have never been detained. Families are still being torn apart. And our communities are still being targeted. We won’t rest until we are all safe.
DAVID IS RELEASED and with his family! He still faces an unjust felony charge.

While we’re relieved that David is out after three nights in detention, we demand the Trump regime drop the unjust charge against him & end the raids! seiu.co/endraids #FreeDavidEndRaids

It's hard to overstate how destructive the reflexive "this is a distraction!" stuff that politicians and commentators and people are always peddling.

Everything is happening all at once. That's how authoritarianism works. If you can't navigate and synthesize this, you're not meeting the moment.

As you see Trump defending his decision to deploy the National Guard into LA and potentially elsewhere, just remember that he did *not* order the DC Nat Guard to protect the Capitol on Jan. 6. I debunked that lie, told by some of his prominent surrogates, here:

Three things about this comment:

1. Homan is a White House adviser who doesn't have the power to arrest anyone. Neither does Trump.

2. Trump once again acts like he's not in charge. "If I were Tom, I'd do it." Uh, doesn't he work for you?

3. THREATENING TO ARREST A GOVERNOR IS A FIVE ALARM FIRE

This is exactly right but so commonly misunderstood.
The fight going on in the Democratic Party right now is not between hard left, left and moderate. It’s between those who want to fight and those who want to cave. And Team Fight stretches across all ideological aspects of the Party. Misread this at your own peril.

If I’m thinking thru the senate rules right (by no means certain), I think a single D senator can force the voting that’s starts tomorrow to last into the beginning of next week by refusing unanimous consent. That can slow things down and allow the backlash to expand.
