Trump's retaliatory firing of my constituent Ellen for exercising free speech is egregious & dangerous.

That’s why I’m fighting for Ellen & every federal worker unjustly fired.

USDA must immediately reinstate her & allow her to continue serving our communities and country.

I attended a meeting yesterday and it reminded me that every single organizer needs to get training on how to facilitate meetings. Truly. You lose more people through terrible meeting facilitation than I can express.

Did I go to the bar and make a Lisa Frank-themed social media ask for an organ? Yes.

benefits to donating:
- temporary break from work and responsibilities as you convalesce
- badass scar
- you grow your own organ back, that’s kinda cool
- good karma
- you save my life

People need to be ON THEIR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS' asses in so-called "progressive" cities. These people continue to SELL OUT their cities in multiple ways. Get acquainted with your council member and stay on their ass.

NEWS: The Trump admin's decision to suspend SNAP benefits due to the shutdown has been blocked. In two cases, both judges found the government action is likely illegal. Although a judge in Mass gave the admin until Monday to reverse course, a judge in Rhode Island issued a TRO from the bench today.
BREAKING: Federal judge rules that the Trump administration likely illegally suspended SNAP benefits, ruling that at least reduced distribution is required to go forward under law using the $6 billion reserve fund.

Judge gives the Trump admin until Monday to respond as to whether it will act.

Call her office right now. (617) 725-4005.

Find your legislators here and call them, too.

given that the majority of SNAP recipients are seniors, folks with disabilities, or CHILDREN, i think this talking point needs an update about how capitalism isn't working for any of us.
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

"the payments are going to miss at once" is misinformation - SNAP in MA is disbursed through the first 14 days of the month. providing state dollars to the EBT vendor is the way states can do this, there is precedent in some states that provided a step-down for pandemic-era increased SNAP.
1) it's about 8 billion dollars
2) all of those payments are going to miss at once
3) it is roughly evenly distributed everywhere

simply figuring out who needs it is more or less impossible on a week's notice. if you had 8 billion dollars you couldn't distribute it with this little lead time.

Food insecurity is ALWAYS a political choice. Famine is ALWAYS manmade. People go hungry because of other people’s decisions. We have more than enough food for everyone, and enormous amounts of it are wasted—literally thrown in the garbage—on purpose.

Or democratic states could step up and fund SNAP and next year run on “I put a turkey on your thanksgiving table”
If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

USDA is legally required to use the contingency funds on SNAP benefits for November.

In July, President Trump and Congressional Republicans enacted the largest cuts to SNAP in history.

The reason they aren't planning on providing SNAP benefits is that they don't want to.
