Weaponized gratitude is a key tool in the abuser's toolkit. The goal is to convince the victim that they owe the abuser so much, they should feel guilty for wanting to complain.

Here's an interesting fact about Mt. St. Helens: Most of the bulk of the mountain itself was formed in just the last 3000 years – including pretty much all of what was blown away in 1980. The entire volcanic system is only ~275,000 years old. Volcanoes are ephemeral, geologically-speaking. ⚒️

Really appreciate this account doing the day-by-day historical posts. Does remind one that the May 18th eruption was not a *total* surprise, there was worry for weeks about the north face "bulge" becoming a catastrophic landslide (the nuclear-scale lateral blast was less expected)

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

But this isn’t meaningful because there are earthquakes in CA EVERY DAY.
