I don't think it was a free. But the ref gave it. So the (stupid) rules states it has to be a pen if inside. And it looks clear.

Stupid rule. And stupid waste of time

Jones the only player really today. Cody and Ekitike doing OK and flashes from Wirtz. But nothing connecting well. Joke of a penalty which has made the game a farce. Otherwise wouldn't be so bad to be playing like this at 0-0

Are we moving into "only Ian Rush" territory now?

That alone is impressive
Mo Salah now has 109 goals in away games for Liverpool in all competitions - moving level with Roger Hunt.

Only Ian Rush (148) has more away goals in #LFC's history.

Was just going to post "you make your own luck, I suppose" but as a sparky comment towards Burnley 😅
Luckypool continue to roll on but the process and buildup continues to be really poor.
The team urgently need to learn how to play with Wirtz and vice versa #lfc

More importantly, though, Chiesa is here

Arsenal play boring, ponderous football and then complain about losing to a worldie. Maybe if you went for stuff, the margins wouldn’t be so small. Showed up against a team leaking goals with three 6s in midfield.

Not fancying us today against Arsenal. Neither team has really started the campaign convincingly but feeling like they made direct improvements to their 11 this year.

Ours is more like building for a season or two away, and because of how the chips fell, the ones we got now will leave some holes.

Liverpool have had 9 fouls given against them in the first 25 mins v Newcastle here.

That's the most they have ever conceded in the opening 25 mins of a Premier League match on Opta's records. #LFC

Ref completely lost the game in the first 10. A complete joke now, less than 15 later

*Searches Laws of the Game for confirmation referees aren't required to book players for offences in the first 10 minutes of a match that would result in a yellow card for the same infringement later in the game*

Nope, definitely nothing there. #lfc

Wasn't expecting Arsenal to play like cowards from the opening round. This isn't supposed to happen until Christmas.

Liverpool might be good enough to defend the Premier League, but they will certainly be worth watching, for neutrals as much as their own fans:

Just at a cafe and the woman beside me let out a big sigh and softly said "okay" into the sigh and then got up and left, and I thought "well, isn't that the most Irish thing?".

Anyway, I've finished my coffee and I will also leave.

*sighs* Now...

At the park playing ball with my boys and there is another dad playing rugby with his kid. I see him throwing one and go "jeez that was a nice crisp pass off the left. Mine isn't that good. Oh, that's Brian O'Driscoll"

Reminder out of left field why you shouldn't compare yourself to other parents 😅

If you watched Liverpool today and concluded that (in a preseason friendly no less) that Florian Wirtz was bad, then I don't understand what you want from football or why you watch it.

Like most star vehicles, F1 THE MOVIE feels like a story that's more about its star (Brad Pitt) than its subject matter (racing).

F1 movie review & film summary (2025) | Roger Ebert
Though “F1” has little to say about the sport’s past, present, or future, the propulsive ride it engineers isn’t a wasted diversion.

I'll say it again: a good portion of the US elite spent the last 10 years pretending that the left is the "real" threat to free speech because ... and I am not making this up ... sometimes conservative students feel like they have to "self-censor."

MAKING THINGS WORSE.

I read that children 6-12 are more likely to be killed in Gaza because they’re too big to be carried, and not as fast as children 12+, and I can’t stop thinking about it. We have children running for their lives on the regular so much so that there are patterns as to who survives.

I still look at X and have a profile there for one of the reasons listed in the article, despite not really following anyone or engaging there much.

This is probably the most compelling argument I have seen to stop that.
I realize posting this here is preaching to the choir. But after the Grok White Genocide thing & Ye essentially launching an exclusive Neo Nazi single on the platform... I felt motivated to write about X and how bizarre it is that so many people (news outlets, celebrities, politicians) use it
What Are People Still Doing on X?
