Mary Tyler Moore accidentally nailed a perfect trick shot in *The Dick Van Dyke Show* (1962)—on the FIRST take.

It was supposed to be done by a pro, but she shocked everyone and pulled it off herself. Absolute legend. 🎱✨

City of Toronto single-detached DCs.

2024: $137,864

Gord Perks to CBC: "Over a decade or two, our DCs are rising at not much more than the rate of inflation"

Our politicians lie to us, and our media amplifies those lies.

This is SHOCKING. Among everything else that’s despicable about this, ITS A CLEAR ADMISSION THAT THEY KNOW THAT DOING THIS WILL OBVIOUSLY ENDANGER LIVES.

People rode bikes on these streets before the bike-lanes (albeit fewer) and they will again after. The inevitable blood will be on Ford’s hands.

The US has widely high traffic fatality rates for a developed country, even compared to Canada, in ways that I don’t think we fully understand.

We need a lot more attention on cities/suburbs in the US that buck that trend and have better traffic safety records to understand why.

I think fixing blue state housing policy is not only incredibly important on its own terms but also central to the project of making people think Democrats can be trusted to run the national economy.

If you took the stereotype about Democrats from working-class immigrant voters – that it’s a party of rich white people and poor people who don’t want to work and just want welfare – and tried to create a housing policy to match it, what would you end up with? Inclusionary zoning.

Welcome to all new followers! I’m a geographer by background, grew up in Brampton, and now live in Downtown Toronto.

I love making maps, especially when they intersect with my urbanist and transportation interest and advocacy.

Here’s a sample.

Canada Intercity Transport Map, updated for Fall 2024
New changes for October 2024 included improved service on Vancouver Island, new routes in Alberta, BC, and Quebec, and even more competition between Edmonton and Calgary.

For all the talk of diverse perspectives on X and the Bluesky echo chamber, I saw very little on X that would suggest to me the huge rightward Latino shift. There was one REtwit account I followed who gave me a taste of that, that’s it. It’s good at feeding you outrageous slop, and not much else.
