Journalist Edward R. Murrow used his platform on CBS to criticize the witch hunts led by Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s.

This is what real journalism should do — hold power to account, not capitulate to it.

Harvard is giving petty with a PHD ... Offering free courses on the Constitution, government systems, and how to recognize a dictatorship right in the midst of rising political tensions is like the academic version of subtweeting and I’m so here for it....

To be clear, my hope with this post was not to presume anything definitive. It was one classroom + one context, after all.

Rather, my real hope?

That we have way more of these conversations and elevate the student perspective and experience in AI discourse more consistently + authentically.
“… it also will separate you from your students”

I decided to finally ask students how they felt about all things AI in education last week, not really knowing what they were going to say.

They had a lot to say—and the message was ridiculously clear.

People are NOT understanding what empty cargo ships from China means.

It means no work for dock workers. No work for truck drivers, no work for retailers, fewer dollars circulating. The cascade effect is just mind boggling.

Yesterday was a good day. The AP teachers had to give students an anonymous survey asking about their experiences in the class. As I took over in November, it has been a struggle with some of them. I was surprised they were very supportive of me and the curriculum. I needed that!
