Gavin Newsom went on TV, called Tom Homan a bitch, and said he if he wanted arrest him he knew where to find him. Maxine Waters told an ICE agent to his if they planned to shoot her they should at least shoot straight.

I really don't know what you want from them right now.
Right now, Dems are hiding in their offices, scrolling their phones fearfully, wondering "how are voters going to feel about the National Guard being deployed?"

The right, meanwhile, is vigorously *attempting to shape* how voters feel about it, filling every medium with coordinated propaganda.

Democratic voters issued a massive rebuke of their own party last year by just refusing to show up on election day & instead of a major shakeup its leaders are spending big on consultants to find a Youtube salesman that can help a small group of septuagenarians no one likes cling to power.

three years ago the New York Times published an op-ed by a college student complaining about the chilling effect of feeling "disdain" from fellow students, because the New York Times wanted to convince America the real threat to free expression was something other than a looming right-wing autocracy
This is very noticeable among students as well. Especially international students are increasingly reluctant to speak, even inside the classroom, because they are - understandably! rightfully! - frightened they might get punished by the regime.

It is heartbreaking and it makes me so fucking angry.
One sign that we are living under an authoritarian regime is that a lot of people are acting like they are living under an authoritarian regime.

If you think this can’t happen, remember that of the 125,000 Japanese Americans who were interned during WWII for years without charge or trial, two-thirds were U.S. citizens. Including me.

There are 33m companies in the USA. Only 21k employe 500 or more. And they only make up 23% of workers.

Trump and Elon are ignoring the more than 32m entrepreneurs that can't afford to build a new factory or pay tariffs or absorb cancelled contracts.

I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.

Do you know who laid the foundation for the FDA?

President Theodore Roosevelt. Do you know why? Because he read a great piece of literature that exposed the mistreatment of immigrant workers and the disgusting, unsanitary practices in meatpacking plants…

The book is called “The Jungle.”

I think progressives have had a problem with "purity tests" (the need for all leaders to have tightly aligned perspectives or else stay quiet about it)

And I think the Democratic Party has had a problem with being...undemocratic - with too much power in the institution and not in the people.

I'll keep saying it, nothing more liberals love than criticizing Dems.
I see people complaining about the lack of coverage of Booker right now but it's actually not breaking news for one of the 100 most powerful people in the country to give a long-winded speech. He'd get a bunch of coverage if the speech disrupted literally anything in the senate! That's the point!

Nothing more liberals love than being pissed of at Dems
Literally every Dem on my timeline:

"Hegseth needs to resign or be removed and live in disgrace for his entire life"

Discover tab:

"Dems aren't even saying he should resign smdh"

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

It’s worth stating this simply: For literally anyone in the US Govt from 1945 to 2025, Signalgate would require an instant resignation—and a criminal investigation. It would be a matter of personal *honor* to resign. The fact Mike Waltz & Pete Hegseth are choosing to fight it out is a terrible omen.

The Commerce Secretary is promoting a company’s stock on live TV, and not just any company’s - the company owned by a ‘special government employee’ and the president’s biggest donor.

The corruption is the point.
On Jesse Watters’ show, Howard Lutnick, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, tells viewers they should buy Tesla stock.

“I think if you want to learn something on this show tonight, buy Tesla. It’s unbelievable that this guy’s stock is this cheap. It’ll never be this cheap again.”

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.
