Well, I went into the article expecting to learn more than just an emotional comment from an American billionaire about African birds living and dying in B.C.

Happy birthday to Chad Kroeger, born on this day in 1974 in Hanna, Alberta.
The lead singer of Nickelback, he has sold 50 million albums with the band. Kroeger has nine Grammy nominations and a Juno Award. He has been involved in many projects as a guest musician.

On this day in 2003, Ray Lewis died.
Born in Hamilton in 1910, he was the first Canadian-born Black Olympic medalist. He won a bronze at the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles in the 4x400m relay. He won a silver at the 1934 British Empire Games in London.
