I love learning new-to-me words.

Today it was "clement" ("mild"), as in "clement weather" vs. "inclement weather".

I'd just... never considered the etymology of "inclement weather" I guess haha. Could've extrapolated the existence of "clement" from that, but... nope!

Had another dream I was back in high school. All art classes, fortunately haha. But as usual I couldn't remember my schedule so I didn't know which classes to go to after the first ones ended. So I ended up stressed out anyway.

But in one class I was trying a new craft I've been thinking about... 🤔

Welp. That's the ending of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

O u c h.

But what an incredible game. One of my favorites of all time for sure!

...for a game named after the artistic contrast between light and shadow, that ending sure had a LOT of shades of grey...

My heart. 😭

So Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is... wow. I don't think I've felt so fully enthralled by a game since my first RPG (Final Fantasy IX back in 2000). I'm near the end (just hunting collectibles in act 3) so still avoiding most content online, but... yeah. I'm so in love.

Today— May 10 —marks the anniversary of the destruction of the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, a pioneering clinic and library of human sexuality. Nazis looted and publicly burned its research, records and artifacts to bury evidence of trans/queer existence.

The parallels today are unmistakable.

So much happening, and my health has me feeling like I'm frozen in time while the world spins around me. I've been here before and I've always made it through, but man it sucks while I'm in the middle of it. In 10 days things should be helped somewhat, but that feels so far away.

I still think about last year's solar eclipse pretty regularly. I'm so glad I went to see it in totality, and I hope I get to see another in my lifetime somehow. It was absolutely breathtaking. Easily the most beautiful natural phenomenon I've ever seen.

Trying to ignore the world for a bit and focus on my art. Working on some renaissance guitar pieces. Pleased to (re)discover that some time away somehow makes the harder pieces a tiny bit easier. "O Passy Sparsy", I'll master you one day.

Very cool to see Steam holding a Women's Day sale featuring games "created by teams led by women and other gender-marginalized developers". Two of my recent favorites, Dredge and Tiny Glade, are in there, at 50% and 15% off respectively. I'll be digging for more new favorites to add to my library!

1. Nearly a century ago, Nazis burned trans books to usher in fascism.

Now, Trump is doing the same, digitally burning all records of transgender people and striking the community from records.

This must be seen for what it is: a move towards atrocity.

Made the mistake of attempting to eat a tuna sandwich within range of Cheddar, my adorable orange cat with knives for feet, and now I am bleeding a little.

But the sandwich was delicious, so I'll probably make this mistake many more times in the future.

One of his last works, Unfinished Painting, was deliberately incomplete, reflecting the devastating, unquantifiable loss to the arts due to AIDS.

This whole thread is really cool!
Not true. I'll give you some examples of when styles crossed over from womenswear to menswear, and how men have worn straight-up womenswear or just feminine styles in cool ways. 🧵

Currently in a good-natured argument over which is the superior vegetable, onions or potatoes. I say onions, because they are especially versatile and elevate every savory dish they go in, but JD says potatoes, because you could survive off them, and he also just always wants potatoes.

The hat is DONE! Beanie Quest is OVER, I have done it, I have acquired the perfect black summer beanie and I just had to crochet it myself. It is comfy as heck and I can't believe it worked out — I didn't use a pattern, just kinda did half a gauge swatch and crunched some numbers lmao.

I know all of us who understand what is happening are experiencing mental health challenges because of that.

The only message of comfort I can offer to this community of readers is this: you are correct.

What you think is happening is really happening, and is just as concerning as you think it is.

Trying to stay distracted, so fell down the rabbit hole of video game covers on YouTube, and remembered this Legend of Mana medley I had seen many years ago at this point. I'm not sure if the group's name is MeloHolic or Akaringo, but I adore their take on one of my favorite game soundtracks.
