Two babies were born in New York within a year of each other, soon after WWII.

One, Rob Reiner, lived a life of humanity and achievement. He brought us delight and joy. His memory will be a blessing.

The other, Donald Trump, will be remembered as an embarrassment to our nation.

Trump doubled down on attacking Rob Reiner after mocking the slain directing legend in a Truth Social post on Monday.

“I thought he was very bad for our country,” Trump added at the White House, calling Reiner “deranged."

Rob Reiner directed one of the best cinematic examples of the importance of troops refusing illegal orders.

A Few Good Men follows two marines on trial after killing a fellow marine.

The came from above, but that they should have known to refuse it.

Reiner was also a vocal opponent of Trump.

RIP

Trump's Rob Reiner is not about a failure of empathy or good taste. Trump bragged that Reiner was murdered because he criticized Trump! That's a seismic shift in political rhetoric. He wants people to believe that MAGA will murder his critics. He wants MAGA to believe it.

An Anti-Defamation League that actually believed in its stated mission would savage Trump for his comments about Rob Reiner and his wife, but they are too busy trying to find out whether an Oberlin student said something critical of Israel.

I agree. No one who supports Trump should be able to say "oh, I didn't see/hear about that post about Reiner."
Correct; shove it in their faces.

How many people do you know that continue to delude themselves on this because they’re too embarrassed to admit how easily fooled they were.

Make them feel discomfort.

Rob Reiner and his wife were stabbed to death.

All Trump needed to do was keep his big mouth shut or make a sympathetic comment.

But that’s not Trump. He’s pathologically evil.

Trump suggested that Rob Reiner and his wife died of “Trump derangement syndrome.“

Burying the lede. This is not about good taste. This is Donald Trump claiming that one of his supporters murdered Rob Reiner because they were mad about Reiner's anti-Trump stances.
As the film world and people of good taste around the world mourn the sudden death of legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer, President Donald Trump jumped to make the apparent double homicide about himself.

This Wall Street Journal headline is what major American media have become: a sick joke. Trump says Rob Reiner was asking to be stabbed to death because he didn't support Trump. WSJ sane-washes that into plain old "criticism" of Reiner.
The media are killing our country with this normalization.
Democrats and some Republicans say President Trump has gone too far in a social-media post about Rob Reiner, who was found dead alongside his wife on Sunday.

If the New York Times was waiting for a news hook to write a long-overdue story about how Trump is mentally unfit to be president, Trump has provided one today with his post saying Rob Reiner got murdered because he was mean to Trump.
Write it, NYT. End the normalization. @nytimes.com

This man is a monster. He has no human empathy. He is an embarrassment to this country. People lost their jobs and are still being hounded because of much more banal comments about Charlie Kirk.
Q: A number of Republicans have denounced your statement on Rob Reiner. Do you stand by it?

TRUMP: Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.

Absolutely vile.

We've had presidents before who were terrible people, but never one who was so shamelessly, publicly terrible. This behavior should not be excused, much less celebrated.
