I made DDG my default browser a while ago. I don't love being tracked and distracted by Big Googoo all the time, and this is yet another reason to make the switch. techcrunch.com/2025/07/18/d...

Fascinating experiment conducted by this X user to see how Glaze protects artwork from Grok. Glaze and/or Nightshade everything you upload folks, it works!

Also stop using X please and thank you!

This is insane. Republicans have inserted language into the budget reconciliation bill that would ban states from regulating AI in any capacity for 10 years.

Update: The TERRIBLE 10-Year Ban on State AI Regulations advanced House Committee. What does this mean?

It means we BLAST the HELL out of their phones! Call your House Members AND Senators today! Called a few days ago? Call again!

Tell them NO on 10-year State AI Regulation Ban!

Yes, we can all laugh at this, but it also demonstrates the entire point of the AI push: They want to make you dependent on it to inform you, and then control what it tells you. It’s why they buy newspapers and social media, too.

Elon is showing the billionaire playbook in the dumbest way possible.
apparently Elon's gotten so mad about Grok not answering questions about Afrikaners the way he wants, xAI's now somehow managed to put it into some kind of hyper-Afriforum mode where it thinks every question is about farm murders or the song "Kill the Boer"

Did AI kill your job? If so, I want to hear about it.

The response to my story on the AI jobs crisis has been overwhelming. I heard from so many people impacted by AI that it made me want to collect and organize these stories to better understand the phenomenon.

Clip Studio is constantly on sale.

Animation Paper is $25.

Rough Animator on the iPAD is $25.

Blender is free.

Davinci Resolve is free.

There is no better time to leave Adobe or buy a bunch of SSD's with an Adobe coupon (which is a lot of work).

Morbidly fascinated with Futurist art because I think a lot of it looks neat and it's interesting how it actively engages with the technical revolutions of the time like film and machines but am horrified by the massive fascism connection and fundamentally violent current that runs through it.

I will say to the people who are excited about the AI bubble popping: if i am correct (nothing I say is financial advice) it will ravage the markets in a way that will hurt just about everybody. It won't just hit tech. Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai and Mark Zuckerberg must be held responsible.

The big takeaway here is that Reuters won this case against the AI company on grounds they violated fair use—the judge found the AI company was guilty because, in using copyrighted works to generate its output, it “meant to compete... by developing a market substitute.”

Huge.

Thomson Reuters has won the first major AI copyright case in the US. The decision has big implications for the battle between generative AI companies and rightsholders.

Twitter is evil. Get off if you possibly can, friends.
milph.mom Mom @milph.mom · Feb 13
It might hurt my bottom line, but I’m probably going to stop posting art to Twitter entirely and I suggest you do too.

Not only is the site actively putting a “Okay, now remix this” button below art (and elevating them above the OP with a QRT) and it’s false flagging original art as made by AI.
