Yikes.
Voting will be open to DC-licensed lawyers from April 15 to June 4. Don't let Trump DOJ allies take over the DC Bar.

Bradley J. Bondi is Pam Bondi's brother
Alicia M. Long is Ed Martin's deputy

There's always a quote.
There he is.
Pete Hegseth in 2016: "The people we rely on to do dangerous and difficult things for us rely on one thing from us: That we will not... be reckless with the dangerous things they are doing for us. That's the national security implications of a private server that's unsecured."

Cheeriest notion I've read all day!
If they actually believed they could get away with ignoring the courts they wouldn’t be bothering to send lawyers to defend positions. They know that power rests on perception and they understand that they are expected to comply with the courts and that if they don’t they will fail and fall.

Not too impressive; not at all surprising.
We attended a demo for a specific AI legal research tool and the trainer kept repeating 1.) it would save time and 2.) that the user has to carefully check the results.

THESE ARE NOT COMPATIBLE CLAIMS.

Also, in less than 24 hours, one of our librarians spotted a hallucination.

Fan-TAS-tic tech.
It’s the GenAI, stupid! Yesterday I watched a colleague demo how to use chat to write some emails to “save time.” It took as long as writing the emails & used roughly 10x the electricity.

GOP state lawmakers called it a third round of Helene relief for western North Carolina, but the vast majority of a 131-page bill is dedicated to changes in government. Written in secret and released an hour before it was debated, the bill passed both chambers last week.
