Been working on the algorithm for the web dev feed a bit. Think it’s finally becoming really good!

I find a few cool new things and devs on it most days

this X post is worded like an indictment of Bluesky, but it’s actually a perfect example of why Bluesky is *better* than X — users can’t create their own shit on X when they don’t like what X is doing

... and all of this will eventually need to be on hardware you pay for, which means you'll need to have monetization, and monetization is hard with any totally novel method, which means... you'll end up with a mix of subscriptions, ads, and paid bonus features to lesser extent. Ask me how I know!

The For You feed has been spreading like a wild fire yesterday and today and got 10K likes - which is crazy compared to the 6K likes it accumulated since ~May.

Thanks to all the likes, For You overtook the defunct Skygaze feed in the search results - no more confusion about which is the real one.

these web pages are useless, they don’t do anything

and all the computers running them need electricity and they use so much of it

and people are using this for piracy of intellectual property

you’re a class traitor if you use the web, ignore it and it will go away

books work fine
swear to god if geocities came out today some of yall would be posting about how irresponsible it is to let anyone create a web page

I’ve seen some backlash to this guy who generated a shopping list app

Generative, personalized ui has been the dream in software forever. I for one am hopeful that its power lies in the user’s hands rather than tech companies (and all their gathered data)

Damn the anti ai takes really ratcheting up a notch

Wonder if they know how much of the software is also generated. I don’t see anyone up in arms about all the programming jobs

Ok. Now had a chance to check and, well, at least some docs do appear to be straight up classic redaction fail. And there are some *interesting* bits here.

Bad news: It was wiped and I lost 3-4 days of work

In other news: I set up a cron script to rsync my project folder to my nas

Don’t laugh at the Waymo’s not working, be appalled at our aging infrastructure

We’re 10 years behind in switching to renewables and upgrading the infrastructure. We’re fucked on many different levels
