As someone who is transgender and has a lot of friends and family members; I have to say that using the line "I have a transgender friend or family member" isn't as convincing as you think it is.

Watching the debate on the House floor about a trans sports ban. I am frustrated with how Democrats are handling this issue. Their focus seems to be on enforcement, highlighting the invasive procedures that might be required to determine who is or isn’t trans. But this is a weak argument.

It's not exaggeration when we say that they are trying to eliminate us. They don't want us to exist. Just remember that when they give you all the other reasons for the laws that they are passing to take away our rights. This is the real reason.
1. This weekend, Representative Adam Bird in Ohio, when asked about the new trans bathroom ban on CNN, said that transgender youth will be "less of an issue" in the state after banning their care.
The implication is chilling.

We're in a time of crisis, and one persistent thread is that we're losing our ability, or perhaps our desire, to tell truth from lies.
You may be familiar with how this is manifesting in conspiracy theories and misinformation, but the problem is much worse, and goes much deeper, than you realize.

The NYT quotes SJSU’s assistant coach saying that the trans woman on the team jumps higher & hits harder than the cis women she plays against—but doesn’t check to see if that’s true (it’s not—the screenshot on the right is ESPN’s reporting from earlier this week disproving those claims.

Of course when we address this issue we need to highlight the very small number of trans girls playing in sports. The numbers I have seen are that there are around 100 trans girls playing in high school sports and less than 40 playing in NCAA sports.

Of course when we address this issue we need to highlight the very small number of trans girls playing in sports. The numbers I have seen are that there are around 100 trans girls playing in high school sports and less than 40 playing in NCAA sports.
If you think trans bathroom bans are about anything other than hate and discrimination, how do you explain this? You can't convince me that anyone is seriously concerned that Sarah McBride is a safety threat in the bathroom in Congress. Let's call this what it is: bigotry and hatred.
This is exactly why Democrats should not start conceding on things like trans people in sports.
They are already moving onto the next big thing, fearmongering over a trans congresswoman in a bathroom.
