For my current game I like making concept piece to inspire the world and atmosphere, and this is one of them. Heavily inspired by the PC big-box era, designer's republic and so on.

Blender 5 and Unreal 5.7 are now knockin about. Software updates so quickly now it's actually quite hard to keep up!

one of the issues of the egg crate as a diffuser is the regular spacing of the cones etc. It means mild diffusion around 3500Hz and mild absorption around 650Hz, but that's it. not really worth is for the mess it makes of the looks in your room

It seems that for the last episode, the writers of Alien Earth just went utterly bananas and picked the plot using a dartboard covered in ideas and a blind chimp as a dart thrower 😂

Unreal’s ability to have “one tickbox that solves the issue” is both incredibly frustrating and a huge relief when you find it 😂

I did try using AI models for placeholders myself. Cos it’s just me I know I’m gonna replace them so no issues with them “slipping through.”
The creative issue with it is that seeing them in there messes with your imagination and imprints on you in a way it’s hard to undo. So I stopped doing it.

To the AI obsessive, everything is a “problem” to be “solved”. The process is not a part of the outcome but instead an inconvenience getting in the way of NUMBER BIGGER which is always the true goal. Always using machines to make man into as much of a machine as possible.

After waiting as long as possible to install Windows 24H2, and it being forced on me, it obviously IMMEDIATELY set about destroying my work PC.
Turns out there's a new service called Program Compatibility Control that loves to cause blue-screens and errors. If you disable it it all just works 🤦

Over time I've found that if you're developing a personal game project over quite a while, limiting third-party plugins is an excellent idea. I've already had to refactor out a couple of ones that are just not being updated. The more vanilla you can keep the engine the better, it seems!

Hannibal, the gruesome descriptions of violence and mutilation seemed sort of fetishised, they were so revolting and vivid it stuck with me in the worst way possible. After Silence Of The Lambs being so lean it felt pompous and grotesque.
