For the past 2 years, a widely debunked NYT article was used as propaganda by our government to justify its support of Israeli genocide in Gaza. A genocide that, despite a “ceasefire,” is ongoing.

Ok all sarcasm aside, what these white supremacists are really talking about is when they are asked to apologize for doing racist things. Which happens. Because racism is something to apologize for. What they are saying is that no one should have to apologize for racist actions or statements.
Next time someone says they don’t have to apologize for being white anymore, ask them to tell about the most recent time they were forced to apologize for being white and who made them do it.

Maybe that a) the piece was ready and b) the reporters made normal efforts to get comment from the administration?
The Bari Weiss hysteria continues. Exactly what in "this piece isn't ready" and "try harder to get comment from the administration" constitutes the death of American journalism? www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

I would be a worthwhile addition to that list. I certainly paid the cost.
In 2017-2018, TNR published multiple hit pieces on me and @sarahkendzior.bsky.social
defaming us as “conspiracy theorists,” “paranoid,” and “unhinged” for accurately warning about Trump’s ties to Russia, the far right, and authoritarianism. We could have provided commentary @polphilpod.bsky.social.
those who predicted authoritarianism were both dismissed, & deeply misunderstood, by the media

It all matters, yes, but this matters more than Susie Wiles, matters more, even, than the travel ban; more than all of Trump’s wars actual & looming (Venezuela, Ukraine, Somalia, Gaza) combined. It’s like the Cuban Missile Crisis, only U.S. is aiming it missiles at everyone, starting with itself.

I honestly think that many people don't know what their public libraries offer besides books. I think that everyone should go on a public library treasure hunt in 2026. Go explore what your library systems offer at no cost to you. Report back to me :)

Trump’s obsession with me is beyond weird. He needs serious help.

Since he has no economic policies to tout, he’s resorting to regurgitating bigoted lies instead.

He continues to be a national embarrassment.
Trump: "Ilhan Omar, whatever the hell her name is. With her little turban. I love her. She comes in, does nothing but bitch ... we ought to get her the hell out ... she's here illegally."

The crowd in Pennsylvania then starts chanting "send her back!"

At some point someone just needs to say “you are an indecent person, you are lying to cover the slaughter of defenseless men, you know you are lying, and even under the tenets of your own professed faith you will certainly burn in hell if you continue down this path”
WELKER: Isn't it possible that even the act of taking off a t shirt could've been part of an attempt to get attention for help?

TOM COTTON: Or it could've been an attempt to signal to another cartel boat to come pick them up and pick up the cargo

Every Democrat going on air should take the first question and then say something like “Before I answer that I need to express my outrage and disgust at the president’s bigoted and vulgar insults about the Somali people. There is something seriously wrong with him. He is a sick man.”

I realize I've been posting about my book a lot and want to share why 🧵
1. It's fucking hard to write a book and getting this one to the finish line with everything happening in my life has been a huge accomplishment for me. I'm excited.
2. Now is a hard time to get a book into circulation. Because
It tried to kill me but I have finished the book. Second pass pages read through, final copy and line edits done.

Please read my book. I worked very hard on it. 😭 (Also read Legendborn, as you can see from the background, I’m a fan)

This is one of the most incredible things I’ve ever read.

It is, apparently 🙄, “anti Zionist racism” to call someone a “‘Zionist’ without their consent.”

Also, to call them a “colonizer” or “genocide supporter.”

I guess they really have completely worn out ‘antisemitism.’ 🤷🏻‍♂️

We’ll never understand the consequences of what we’ve unleashed. And when young Palestinians react as they get older, they’ll get blamed for what we’ve enabled.
I'm teaching about Gaza on Monday. I assigned this article. You should read it if you haven't, because the trauma it describes is unbearable and we all need to sit with it.

Among so much else, it’s a reminder that Trump has no clue what’s going on. He’s an incredibly simple man at his core
That press conference is the wildest footage I’ve ever seen. Trump gleefully agreed that he’s a “fascist” and “despot,” and that the US has used taxes to support “Israeli genocide.”

And he smiled at and defended Mamdani with an affection I’ve literally never seen him direct at anyone before.

Wut.
