In the wake of ProPublica’s expose of the Community Response Team, critics are calling for the unit to be disbanded. New York City’s police commissioner may also be reducing the team’s role.

In an attempt to preserve what remains of my sanity, I'm continuing to update the Academic Target Tracker map @elotroalex.bsky.social and I threw together last weekend. It includes info about academic workers who have been detained or had their visas revoked in recent weeks. You can find it here:

Don't just pass on the tariff cost to your consumers quietly.

Add a line on the bill and explicitly label it "Trump Tariff." Show people *why* it is costing more.

Keep in mind: the NEH’s budget is 0.01% of the entire federal budget. This is not about savings - it is about the destruction of the Humanities and the critical thinking abilities that they teach. 🗃️

DOGE has now turned its sights on a small agency that provides support for community programs in every state. The National Endowment for the Humanities, which funds museums, historic sites, libraries, educators and media outlets across the country, has been told to slash staff by 70-80 percent.🧵

Al Green is trending. Most other US senators and reps are not. That's because the rest of you are not meeting the moment. Sen Murphy says we have maybe 6 months left before we turn into an authoritarian regime. Why are you not taking that seriously?

Despicable move by Hochul, yet unsurprising.
A new McCarthy era is upon us. Stupid, depressing, and dangerous as ever. I wonder whose name will carry the dunce cap in the history books. Too many are complicit. I’ll need to find upset and action, but for now I’m feeling grief at the dehumanization inherent to all this.

I can not overstate the need for headline writers who better understand race. This doesn’t impact “groups based on race” it targets students of color. All white frats and clubs will be fine. They are segregationists—not interested in equal access.

As someone from DC with no voting representation I have always fully subscribed to and used my right to free speech in calling out public officials in public. They represent the people, the people have the right to let them know what we think. Be loud.
Do you remember that time Pence tried to see Hamilton and the cast called him out.

Or when McConnell was chased out of a resraurant and not allowed a peaceful meal.

Or when Cruz abandoned Texas during the deep freeze and we shamed him into going home.

That.

Do that.
