1/ Hi bsky! I haven’t introduced myself yet so here we go. I’m a sociologist and interdisciplinary social scientist with a Ph.D. in Global & Sociocultural Studies. My work is grounded within African Diaspora Studies with a focus on Cuba and the Afro-Atlantic World.

We begin our #CabildodeRegla events this afternoon, with an exhibit “The Cabildo de Regla: A Retrospective” at 4pm at the Regla Movie Theatre on Guaicanamar Park. This exhibit features images from 2017-2024. The artists include: Ained Cala, Alexandra P. Gelbard, Amberly Alene Ellis, & Dany del Pino.

A new McCarthy era is upon us. Stupid, depressing, and dangerous as ever. I wonder whose name will carry the dunce cap in the history books. Too many are complicit. I’ll need to find upset and action, but for now I’m feeling grief at the dehumanization inherent to all this.

I can not overstate the need for headline writers who better understand race. This doesn’t impact “groups based on race” it targets students of color. All white frats and clubs will be fine. They are segregationists—not interested in equal access.

Letters went out to federal workers this morning stating they were fired due to poor performance. However, all employees had been rated as “exceptional” performers by their supervisors. Please keep these records and pursue wrongful termination claims. Let the lawsuits begin.

As someone from DC with no voting representation I have always fully subscribed to and used my right to free speech in calling out public officials in public. They represent the people, the people have the right to let them know what we think. Be loud.
