To the extent that we can sum up the Trump regime right now, this is what seems most defensible to me:
1) It's an authoritarian takeover of the state apparatus
2) Events are moving faster than they anticipated, and they can't control the story
3) They're just not competent enough to pull this off

gender affirming surgeries generally have a MUCH LOWER rate of regret than major joint surgeries, like knees, elbows, and shoulder replacements
