The worst political abuses, of women, young people, those with less, are so often first trialled in immigration systems. This othering is deadly, and as we saw with Morrison, inevitably worked its way into his broader politics. Refugee justice is everyone’s business.

In one study, 36 of 37 dead Powerful Owls tested positive for rat poison. Which isn't to say they necessarily died from it, but rat poison is throughout native wildlife. 2nd generation poisons must be banned. There are alternatives.

Shout out to community volunteers:
State Emergency Services, St Johns Ambulance, Rural Fire Services & many others who are cleaning up after the multinational fossil fuel companies.

They need equipment & resources: Where is that money coming from?

We need a climate disaster levy #auspol I signed:
Tragic to see the flooding across NSW. As these disasters get more common and more severe, we should make fossil fuel exporters pay a climate disaster levy.

So that those causing the damage pay for the clean-up, not ordinary Australians.

Time for a climate damage compensation levy on the companies who are exporting fossil fuels from Australia.

As VIC debates how to fund emergency services such as the CFA & SES, a levy like this would mean we would never have to ask a farmer to pay a contribution for emergency services ever again.

How much coal would the French have to find under the Louvre to destroy it? How much gas would the UK need to find under Stonehenge to knock it down?

Australia must be the richest country in the world willing to destroy its ancient heritage for one more gas project #climate
The Murujuga rock art is one of Australia's most priceless heritage sites.

And it's being slowly destroyed.

If Environment Minister Murray Watt approves the 50 year extension to the North West Shelf, it will be a death sentence for Murujuga.

Right now, despite the large number of virus detections we're hearing about in the news among ill people, the level of illness severity is not abnormal.
So far.
So get that vaccination now!

It would be very powerful to see this data in an infographic format.

Nothing stands the way of Labor and ambitious, progressive reform
The big question now is whether the second term Labor government will make the big changes that Australians clearly want and need.

This. Labor needs to be bolder, do better in their next term. They were lucky to be up against a dreadful opposition but they need to step up: in higher education, in climate action, on transparency, and fixing our below poverty-level ‘safety’ net. Let’s hold their feet to the fire and demand better
I'm glad we have a Labor government over an LNP one. I'm glad that they do put forward helpful policies... at times.

But they're a centrist party that is still afraid of losing, and is still afraid of enacting genuine, positive change for the nation.
