An American and a non-American fall in love and get married. The non-citizen does everything right to get a green card, but the US drags its feet. Then when the newlywed non-citizen comes in for their very last interview, despicable goons from ICE snatch them.
I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

NIMBY objecting to a three story 12-plex because it's too tall. I on the other hand am sad that it's only three stories when we allow five. It's a small lot; there could be parking issues for a five story building. But still, a loss.

Inclusionary zoning raises rents/prices not in the buildings that get built, but because of the buildings that don't get built. Big tax on building -> fewer new homes -> higher rents/prices area-wide.
Instead, it is the market-rate homes across the entire city that do the cross-subsidizing. Ie. the pass-through of the IZ tax is market-wide rather than at the building level.

This is not "survivor's guilt." It's just guilt. Ms. Maltas feels guilty because she drove recklessly, didn't yield to a pedestrian, and killed someone. She feels guilty because she IS guilty. She killed someone, and she should feel guilty. This should not be an excuse to avoid punishment.
Maltas' attorney asked the judge not to send her to jail. "Ms. Maltas has been under the care of a doctor because she has survivors guilt. She has PTSD. She is overborne with remorse," she said. As she spoke, Maltas was cradled by a friend and sobbed.

The “first offense” here was killing someone with her car. She’s getting 45 nights in jail (free during the day). I heard that the second time she kills someone the sentence will be 46 nights in jail. Her “condition” is she’s sad she killed someone’s with her car, boo hoo.
Maltas' attorney also said that it was her first offense, that she had not worked since the crash, and that the D.C. Jail would be unable to treat her condition were she to be held there.

Trying to figure out the town I've been to that has the smallest population that has a No Kings rally. Alas, I've tried twice to get to Polebridge MT (pop. 14) and haven't, so close, but East Glacier MT has a No Kings rally and population 354 and I've ridden my bike there twice.

Los Altos Hills CA is up to their old tricks, to get out of allowing homes for the people who can’t afford the $5.7M houses there. The rich exclusionary town has to zone for multifamily housing, but they don’t want to, so they’re weaseling. 🧵1/7
