Continuing to follow the script. But every next step along this road also creates new opportunities for dissent.
In 1935 German leadership called a surprise meeting and informed their previous oath to uphold the Weimar constitution was now void and they instead must swear a personal oath to the Führer. Many claimed they didn’t like the order, but they did it anyway.

More alternative facts. This time from another dictator’s fanboy. This line of propaganda conveniently makes no reference to the legions of nations that remain captive in modern day russia.
Russian propaganda teaches Russians that Germany, Finland, Poland, the Baltic states, Ukraine, Azerbaijan were all "created" by Russia.

A very dangerous narrative.

Trump's despotism is the product of enough people supporting his "delusions of grandeur" to elect him. It was US soil that allowed trump to grow his replica of Hitler's rise to despotism. Getting rid of trump won't address the roots of the problem. Succinctly put in this post. Important to remember

Russia has a well established pattern as colonial power. See below. Western governments paying lip service to rule of law did not stop russia in UKR. Complicit in russia's annexation of Crimea. Now failing to take serious steps to protect UKR & punish russia. Gives russia permission to do it again.

Golden Dome with participation from Canada? Canada should keep in mind the last line in the article: "National missile defense is the longest-running scam in the history of the Department of Defense."
Trump’s “Golden Dome” Won’t Work—but It’ll Make Elon Musk Richer

For 40 years, missile defense has never been about keeping America safe. It’s all about the contracts.

Telling lies, falsehoods & spinning truth are undisputed winners in changing world order. Putin & trump both setting the standard. Following in tradition of hitler. Repeat something often enough, people will come to believe it true. And learn to accomplish what they want using these same tactics.
Putin claimed that, in fact, Russia was forced to do what it is doing now. It's all the Ukrainians' fault — if they hadn't been killing people and bombing Donbas, none of this would have happened.

Because Russians, of course, are "for all things good and against all things bad."

A question well put.
What is a nation supposed to do when its leader is publicly committing impeachable offenses on a daily basis and the impeachment process is utterly broken due to slightly more than half of the nation's Congress being members of a cult dedicated to destroying rule of law

If after reading this illuminating article by ‪Oleksandr Polianichev‬‬ ‪@opolianichev.bsky.social‬, you'd be interested in knowing more, then see "Central Asia" by Adeeb Khalid. Well researched. Tracks imperialists/colonialists over a longer time span. Discusses context for who wanted what and why.
Today, Tehran, Pyongyang, and Beijing are key backers of Russia’s war of expansion. But they share a deeper history: under the last tsar, Iran, China, and Korea themselves fell prey to its colonial appetite. My latest for @newlinesmag.bsky.social on Russia’s imperial record in the Global South.
NEW: The portrayal of Russia as a perennial foe of Western imperialism has become a cornerstone of the Kremlin’s diplomacy. @opolianichev.bsky.social challenges this growing political mythology, for @newlinesmag.bsky.social

Historical context is critical to understanding russia's continued expansionist drive. Last point is important: The stark difference in attitudes towards colonialism between russia & other countries who once were colonialist but no longer are--at least not in the same overt ways. Thanks for sharing.

A great example of what happens when reality eliminates the possibility of satire. Putin wants Ukraine to stop existing. Period.
A ceasefire is only possible if Russia is given guarantees that Ukraine will not defend itself when we attack it again.

When russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, I'd just finished reading books about Middle Ages. No border integrity. Invasions at whim of the powerful. People reeling from massive changes to their lives. I was reading about Middle Ages as history. But then, russia brought Middle Ages back to Europe again.
Attention, Europe!
Russian propagandist Solovyev:

"Let's help Europe slide back into the Middle Ages. That's where they belong."

"An unknown shadow pirate fleet will start sinking everything heading to Europe. The various streams [pipelines] to Europe will start exploding suddenly"

Russia's celebration of May 9 as their WWII victory is (intentionally) delusional for so many reasons. Disappointing that some European leaders participating in the celebrations fail to understand history. Falling for propaganda is trap all of us should be careful to avoid.

Hearing words in song hits home better than words alone. Hope you don't have to regret moving to 🇨🇦 once election is over. Trump has kept his head low during the campaign. Helps make it easier for too many to forgot what's at stake. Some say they want 'change'. Change will come one way or another.

Great perspective! Would also be lovely to see separate colours for the many, many nations in that area now coloured red. Nations that continue to survive despite being forcibly subsumed by russia. And survive despite their people being harvested and sent to fight and die in Ukraine.
It’s all a matter of angles.

And from this angle, it makes total sense.

Peace can only happen if putin ceases to assault Ukraine. No negotiations to reward the attacker & blame the victim. Russia never did get punished after WWII for the crimes it committed. attacking the Baltic countries & then annexed after WWII. With the blessing of its WWII Allies. History teaches.
What if Allies had partitioned Europe in 1942 while Hitler was still conquering?

This map shows what Trump envoy Kellogg's Ukraine plan really means: rewarding aggression mid-war rather than punishing it after defeat.

This isn't peace—it's surrender disguised as diplomacy. buff.ly/kSVtYVy
