Paying Nauru billions to break international law for us
Last night @davidpocock.bsky.social and I read onto the Hansard an interview by the President of Nauru that the Albanese Government has been desperately trying to keep secret.

It shows Nauru plans to send refugees to places they fled. No wonder the secrecy.

Under @albomp.bsky.social’s new #FOI laws, Deloitte, EY, KPMG & PWC can make a submission to Cabinet (on a topic you won’t know about) and you won’t get to see how they influenced the Govt until 20 years later. How’s that for democracy? #auspol

Parliamentary inquiries should lead towards the truth. See page 202, 'Lex parliamentaria: A treatise of the law and custom of the parliaments of England', published in 1690 but originally published in French 🇫🇷 (for colonial reasons)

Huge result today for Angela Sdrinis Legal in Tasmania’s first (and now first successful) class action. Her settlement means 129 Ashley detention survivors share in $75 million compensation for their abuse at the state’s hands. Judge called her work exemplary. #politas
It’s time to close Ashley.

I really hope Hansard records the words of the haka, and not just 'an incident having occurred on the floor of the chamber'. What say you, @nzparliament.bsky.social ?
Wow. This is incredible. New Zealand's parliament is brought to halt by MPs performing a haka. Opposition party MP Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke begins the ceremonial group dance after asked whether her party supported controversial bill seeking to reinterpret country's founding treaty with Māori people
