6. Au demeurant, aux termes du premier alinéa de l'article 2 de la Constitution : " La langue de la République est le français ". Si la libre communication des pensées et des opinions proclamée par l'article 11 de la Déclaration des droits de l'homme et du citoyen du 26 août 1789 implique le droit pour chacun de choisir les termes jugés, par lui, les mieux appropriés à l'expression de sa pensée, il résulte des dispositions de l'article 2 de la Constitution, telles qu'interprétées par le Conseil constitutionnel, notamment par ses décisions n° 99-412 DC du 15 juin 1999 et n° 2021-818 DC du 21 mai 2021, que l'usage du français s'impose aux personnes morales de droit public et aux personnes morales de droit privé dans l'exercice d'une mission de service public et que les particuliers ne peuvent se prévaloir, dans leurs relations avec l'administration et les services publics, d'un droit d'usage d'une langue autre que le français, ni être contraints à un tel usage. 7. Par suite, la collectivité de Corse n'est, en tout état de cause, pas fondée à soutenir que l'obligation d'utiliser le français dans les travaux et les décisions de l'assemblée délibérante d'une collectivité publique, qui découle directement de l'article 2 de la Constitution, contreviendrait aux autres droits et libertés garantis par celle-ci, qu'il s'agisse du droit à la vie privée, de la liberté d'expression ou du principe de libre-administration des collectivités territoriales. La collectivité requérante ne peut par ailleurs utilement invoquer, à l'appui de sa question prioritaire de constitutionnalité, les dispositions de l'article 75-1 de la Constitution, dès lors que ce dernier article n'institue pas un droit ou une liberté que la Constitution garantit. 8. (...) la question prioritaire de constitutionnalité soulevée par la collectivité de Corse, qui n'est pas nouvelle, ne présente pas un caractère sérieux (...). Il n'y a, dès lors, pas lieu de la renvoyer au Conseil constitutionnel.

However - the 🇩🇪 - 🇦🇹 border is being controlled for over 10 years now.

So in the end, and rather unsurprisingly, the CDU did not win any voters from the far-right AfD by aligning their positions on migration and voting with them in parliament. Instead, they lost almost a million voters to the AfD
