TRUMP: Ah, nothing. But Somalians have caused a lot of trouble. They're ripping us off.

Such classic gaslighting it's an instructive moment. The question is not whether generic is better or worse, it's that a list with more expensive brand names is not the same as a list with cheaper generics. Perverting that truth into an attack on those calling it out is Manipulation 101.
Hassett: "On one of the Sunday shows, the anchor criticized the fact Walmart said the Thanksgiving dinner is cheaper by about $10. Then he said, 'Oh yeah, but they substituted generic stuff,' as if having a generic something is a crime for ordinary folks! It shows how out of touch these people are."

I distinctly remember people being angry that Biden wasn’t talking enough about how good the economy was because he knew inflation was still higher than ideal and didn’t want to sound out of touch. Did she even watch the same election?
Slotkin: "He's trying to distract us from the big stories of last week, the Epstein files and economy. He's tweeting 'the economy is the best it's ever been' -- amazing considering the public isn't stupid. It reminded me of Joe Biden. Biden tried to tell us for a year that the economy was great."

One of the other things clear from the replies to this is that Trump won again in 2024 in part bc many voters want a dictator. Lots of supposedly liberal folks are angry Biden didn't wave his magic wand & conjure nonexistent votes in Congress or cut interest rates without Jerome Powell's approval.
Once again, I remind you that this woman cannot be allowed anywhere near the strategy or leadership of the Democratic Party:

Also, stop it with this BS. Biden correctly said the economy in 2024 was good, because it was. Yes, no one believed it. That wasn't his fault.

Other, more serious countries don't do this. Senior politicians who commit crimes go to jail <all the time>. We could be like those countries, too. But since we've never been that sort of country, it's going to require wholesale reform of our deeply broken societal & political institutions.
