One of the things that drives me nuts are when Republicans do the move of “I oppose [depraved/offensive thing here] because it personally affects me”.

Former OH Senator Rob Portman did it when he favored SSM after finding out their kid was gay, after spending years of opposing the right.
Michael Bohacek, an Republican state senator in Indiana, says he is a “NO” on Trump’s redistricting push, pointing to the president’s use of a slur

Why did they take two weeks to
end up just to simply grant the case?
#BREAKING: #SCOTUS punts in the Lisa Cook case, deferring resolution of Trump’s emergency application seeking to remove Cook from the Federal Reserve Board pending argument on the application in January 2026.

Cook stays on the Board for now:

Countless right leaning "academics" (using term loosely) have gotten turbocharged towards being Trump sycophants over the past decade, Blackman included

He believes this stuff despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Liberal academics are one of the few groups of people giving unnecessary legitimacy to the conservative legal movement.

Davis has always been a rabid partisan. He doesn’t care because bottom line is who has the majority.

CA5 (2 Trump appointees in majority) cripples NLRB enforcement powers from prosecuting unfair labor practice cases against SpaceX, citing removal protections that federal labor law gives board members and agency judges likely violate the U.S. Constitution.

Garnett posting as if he’s not projecting. The whole conservative legal movement has been built on deciding issues beyond the text, see e.g. the whole project against the administrative state turning on ‘I know it when I see it’ major questions doctrine that happens to mostly go against progressives
I imagine “conservatives” are just as confident that the “text” is on their side. And it is tough to deny that much of what legal progressives care about depends on going beyond (or not taking completely at face value) the text.

Rao submitting another SCOTUS audition
Rao, unsurprisingly, is more extreme here, calling Boasberg's actions — not the Trump administration's moves — "egregious."

Man, the most slick thing Roberts did in CASA was assigning Barrett the opinion because her writing so effectively hoodwinks liberal law professors it's unreal.

No other conservative can pull off this kind of heist where people like Bagley are out here DEFENDING this horrendous opinion.
The fight here is not (or shouldn't be!) about left versus right.

The fight is about the proper role of judges in our democratic system.

@profjpc.bsky.social re: Bove nomination. Am I missing something or is he not the prototypical fedsoc nominee with a paper trial (e.g. Matey, Porter, Bibas)? Like he seems to be a “conservative” judge from the Burger era.

lol one of his ideas includes legalized assassinations of politicians who are against his racist policies

🤡
For whose who were curious what a book award-winning paper from a white supremacist University of Florida law student looked like, he's posted it online. It's as horrible (as scholarship, as political theory) as you imagined.

But there's more. 1/2

Just a horrendous NYT article where Kantor simplifies Barrett's disastrous votes to statistics of how often she voted with the conservatives, makes sense given she quotes the very misinformed Sarah Isgur.

Kantor even tries to downplay her role vote in Dobbs.

"Muscular use".
The Supreme Court could give a major boost to the Trump administration's muscular use of executive power when it hears arguments Thursday over his plan to end birthright citizenship.
Birthright citizenship dispute at the Supreme Court has broad implications for Trump's agenda
A long-simmering issue — individual federal judges blocking policies nationwide — is taking center stage Thursday in oral arguments.

Cannot state how much I hate the New York Times.
Corruption requires explict quid pro quo. It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.

Nothing from this bill prevents Trump from simply levying identical tariffs after 60 days/Congressional disapproval lol
This Senate bill to slap limits on the president’s tariff power now has SEVEN Republican sponsors:

• Grassley
• Moran
• Murkowski
• McConnell
• Tillis
• Young
• Collins
Senators Chuck Grassley (R) and Maria Cantwell (D) just introduced a bill to reassert Congress’s power over tariffs.

—President must notify Congress on new tariffs within 48 hours of imposition.

—Congress must approve them within 60 days or they expire.
