MAGA is going to create national healthcare just so they can deny it to brown people
Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."

“Suffering is only real when I feel it” is a sociopathic way to go through life
Chris Allred said his vote last year for President Trump was shaped by economic changes. Now, he and his wife, who is in the country illegally, face an immigration crackdown. https://trib.al/JAPTkfL

Whether it’s natural disasters, violence, or disease, the only thing they can offer you is prayer.

We have the means to alleviate the worst of these things and not doing it is a purposeful choice.
Mike Johnson on Texas floods: "In a moment like this, we feel just as helpless as everyone else does ... all we know to do at this moment is pray."

There is a group of people they can hire cheaply. They even have the requisite language skills.
Genuinely curious whether ICE is going to be able to hire at the scale this budget calls for.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

this is the level of funding where all the possibilities for American politics that have been described as hyperbolic over the past decades - the comparisons to Nazi Germany and other nightmares of the 20th century - become logistically possible and politically likely

Democratic leaders going hard after the guy that won the Democratic primary for NYC mayor because he had the temerity to be uncomfortable with Israeli war crimes. Meanwhile the Trump budget creates a police state with ICE. Unconscionable.

Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.

I can't wait to read breathless articles in 2028 about how this military operation propelled Trump to popularity on the eve of his third term

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.

One day we will be told by very serious people that we must honor the office and forget all the times he was absolutely inhuman to every other person in the world.

It will be demanded that we respect him for no other reason than his office because his behavior certainly will not merit it.

Dear Mark Carney, thank you for bringing us together in Canada.

It's good to be among trusted partners.

This week we strengthen G7 unity.

Next week we open a new era in our strategic partnership at our 🇪🇺🇨🇦 Summit.

With a major step on security and defence cooperation.

Both things can be true. The Red Sox front office needs to stop botching up their relationships with homegrown star players and Devers should have put aside his anger and picked up a glove when Casas got hurt.

If you knew a person in your workplace, school, or family that responded to events like Donald Trump does, there’s no way any normal person would like him. He’s a complete asshole in literally every possible situation.
Via ABC News's Rachel Scott, let's never forget for a minute what a classless scumbag the President is.

This is the kind of stuff they present in ethics classes in college as a way of working through hypothetical scenarios
This ICE agent tells an immigration attorney of her three clients: "I'm not picky so I'm giving you the options cause I have to take one. If not I'll take all."

He is quite literally saying that ICE is simply deporting people at random to meet a quota.

There’s a special kind of hypocrisy with a group of people that lionize the Boston Tea Party, the Underground Railroad, and Martin Luther King getting upset over protests against masked, anonymous government agents snatching people off the streets without warrants or trials.

Democrats are in a very precarious situation. If they order local or state law enforcement to arrest a federal official, what if the order isn’t followed? What if Trump orders local and state officials to not comply with socialist leaders? Right now the authority is ambiguous. It won’t be shortly.
