Regardless of the outcomes of peace negotiations, Russian war criminals must face justice. This has not been ‘a few bad apples’; it has been a systemic approach to barbarity endorsed from the top. There can be no ‘get out of jail free’ card for them.

Industrialized economies are increasingly turning their backs on aid and diplomacy to build up their armies.

But analysts fear that hostile and unreliable states like Russia, China and Turkey will step in to fill the gap.

Shame on Trump and so-called democratic America in the face of Russian terrorists. The United States has lost its soul, a victim of finance and a will to do harm for criminal purposes.

Ukraine is well advised to push back hard and not leave any doubts that this surrender paper is dead in the water by countering it with a new peace proposal.

This whole episode reveals that the current US negotiating team is completely out of its depth and that people involved in this „negotiations“ are absolute amateurs to say the least.

My favourite moments of this iteration of the ”US-Russia peace plan” were:

1. Dmitriev leaking it
2. The points admitting that Russia does kidnap Ukrainian children
3. The points including that Ukraine shouldn’t hit Moscow or St Petersburg ”without a cause”

I'm looking forward to the part where Ukraine says "no" to surrendering and it turns out Trump doesn't have any cards. Because refusing to sell weapons to your allies at profit just to punish Ukraine for not surrendering isn't a card.

The plot keeps twisting. After having first said that the plan was Russian, not drafted by the US, Rubio a few hours later said the plan was drafted by the US, not Russia.

This promises some interesting negotiations today

This is more important than the 28-point capitulation orders

Why does russia need to keep fighting the war in Ukraine to begin with?

russian regime does not want peace and fights tooth and nail to remain in a state of war and chaos

russia would fall apart if there was true peace

This isn't peace. It's the celebration of aggression and power - the idea that violence pays and that those who are attacked should bear the consequences. Any plan built on rewarding the aggressor and weakening the victim doesn't stop wars. It ensures they return.

Worse, it actively enables future aggression. The aggressor is rewarded with territory it failed to capture, freed from sanctions, and given time to rebuild its military. The victim, meanwhile, is asked to accept restrictions, losses, and risks that undermine its own security.

This plan doesn't guarantee the end of the war - because it doesn't require Russia to withdraw its troops or weapons, doesn't limit Moscow's ability to rearm, and doesn't establish any real security guarantees for #Ukraine. It pauses fighting without addressing the cause of it.

Restrictions on weapons and the army should be imposed on the aggressor.
The aggressor is Russia.
The attacker is Russia.
The one posing a danger is Russia.
To me, the current situation is very similar to February 2025: pressure, rigid deadlines, ultimatums for Ukraine as a "plan to end the war."

If we look at the 28 point plan that appeared in the media as a whole, it shows very clearly who's paying and who's collecting dividends.
