Today, Ukraine's rescue community suffered a painful loss. During emergency response work at an energy facility in Kyiv, Oleksandr Pytaichuk, a high-angle rescuer was killed.

He stood between chaos and normal life — so homes could have light and heat. Oleksandr was only 31...

the strongest pushback Europe gives is when Zelenskyy rightfully criticizes them

then the snowflake effect comes into play, they are paralyzed by their offence and become even less helpful

there is no way to approach Europe, this mule just won't budge

while we die
Opinion: Europe and Ukraine After Davos
However, pressed, Zelensky should be more tactful in distinguishing his criticism of Europe from that of Trump.

the more I read about what Europe should be doing the more pathetic what they actually are doing seems
Opinion: The Illusion of Value-Based Realism
Power respects power. It does not respect pragmatic memos or diplomatic tea parties that lack the spine to enforce a red line.

The Russians have decided to freeze us to death in order to break us, but this is our only life and we have refused to be broken. If our defenders in frozen trenches can hold back the Russian advance, then so can we⤵️

On this day in 1935, Hitler assured Poland that he would not invade. A few years later, he claimed that Germans were being oppressed and killed and used that pretext to invade, carrying out the largest genocide in human history.

Kharkiv has frequently been hit by drones during the day today.

Here's the moment one UAV smashed into an apartment block.

You can tell it's been turned around deliberately. It's not out of control. IT'S TERRORISM.

never again they said
Chasiv Yar today.

A city in the Donetsk region that was alive long ago is now reduced to total ruins. Where there were streets-debris. Where there were homes-ash and smoke.

This is the trace left behind by the Russian army.

"Liberation" that leaves nothing behind.

I don't believe in karma but damn
Map of Utilities outages in Russia for the week 19th to the 25th of January. This is by far the worst week I've tracked and one with highest number of long term outages disrupting life. I would point to Murmansk where they're even out of bread in places.

horrific
This is who Trump's fascist thugs murdered today. His name was Alex Pretti and he was a VA nurse, American born, and had no criminal history.

If they will lie about murdering him, then they will lie about murdering you next.

Apparently people are surprised that a man whose only friends on the world stage are a KGB agent & a North Korean Stalinist planned to unleash a murderous secret police on his population.

Looking back, there were signs.

Ukraine was obliterating russian oil/gas infrastructure
trump withheld Patriots for Ukraine to stop, Ukraine stopped and of course putin took this opportunity to finish off the energy grids
a synchronized effort to genocide a nation

the only ally Europe is weak and unwilling to step up
Opinion: The Death of NATO and Birth of a European Army
Moscow and Washington are applying parallel pressure on Kyiv, seeking capitulation without invasion. What looks like diplomacy may be coordinated coercion with existential stakes for Europe.

Poltava and Cherkasy regions are also on emergency disconnection to preserve what little electricity they have.

it's an onslaught of stupidity and barbarity onto one nation

Then he wants to use the remaining frozen funds to rebuild "territories damaged by fighting"— likely only meaning occupied Ukraine.
