1000% this. Public libraries are actually pretty radical--free to all, and based on the idea that info should be available to all. Get a library card! Use your library! Those numbers often play into their funding.
I also keep thinking that we have to support our libraries.

A comment about public support vs group chat criticism for Left leaning policy. Dani is correct, the Right is VERY good for "rah rah thank you!" coms. We should be critical about policy but we also need to better about celebrating. It is hard when some wins are half baked but it still is a win.
New episode! What are the stakes as we go from Amtrak Joe and DOT Secy Buttigieg to an administration made up of oil barrels disguised as people? We asked Dani Simons, who led DOT's office of public affairs, about the Biden legacy and how to survive the next 4 years.

You'll notice this chart above ends in 2023. What happened in 2024? US EV sales grew to 20% of all sales; but EV sales in China increased by 40% which roughly puts EVs at 55% of all sales, more than double the US proportion.
China's electric car sales grew in 2024 as sales of gasoline cars plunged
Sales of all types of electric vehicles rose more than 40% in China last year while those of gasoline-powered automobiles plunged.

The US just revoked an executive order aimed at making EV sales 50% by 2030. “The US will not sabotage our own industries while China pollutes with impunity,” Trump said.

But China is already stomping the US in EV sales. This decision will widen the gap.
