Kinda funny that Trump thinks "asylum" means other countries send people from insane asylums, and a) this is real life, not a ham-handed Idiocracy-type satire, b) he has surely been corrected several times but is incapable of updating his priors, & c) most media politely agree not to mention it.

Local news Fox9 reports:

ICE detains Minnesota city worker, a snow plow driver, and transfers him to detention facility in Texas. Where he remains.

"He had every federal authorization to be here," public works director in interview.

The question media should be asking: if Minneapolis only needs 600 police officers to perform all general law enforcement activities in the city, why did Trump send 3,000 federal agents to execute a statutorily and constitutionally *much* smaller task?

Answer? He wanted a *war*.

There's no coherent argument for invading or buying Greenland, and when Trump tried to say one to NYTimes it came out as gibberish from a condo salesman about the pride of ownership.

It's basically the same as declaring war on Germany to "own" Ramstein Air Base. No upside, immense downside.
The Greenland fixation feels like a personal insult to anyone who's spent more than about five minutes thinking about national security. "Hey, let's demolish our most valuable alliance so we can get get access to arctic territory we already have access to!"

More evidence what happened in Minnesota was very much intentional. This was not a rogue or poorly trained agent. He did exactly what Trump wanted him to do. They want us to be afraid.
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

Important context to "more/better training" arguments: the murder of Renée Good was a product of that training by someone who has trained others.

(I've seen same in civil rights cases; by moving where he did, he was intentionally generating a pretext to shoot her without genuine risk to himself.)
NEW: Jonathan Ross is former National Guard and Border Patrol and has been part of ICE's SWAT equivalent, a team leader overseeing FBI, ATF, and IRS agents, and a firearms instructor, according to testimony obtained by WIRED. This is from @hudsongiles.bsky.social and me:

Jonathan Ross told a federal court in December about his professional background, including “hundreds” of encounters with drivers during enforcement actions, according to testimony obtained by WIRED.

There is a grave moral consequence to letting this go on. Shut down the government, have a general strike, grind the country to a halt, hit the streets. But not treating a demented administration lying about its thugs committing cold-blooded murder as an emergency? That is an emergency in itself.

This is not Trump being stupid, tho Trump is a very stupid person. This is not Trump being played, tho Trump is one of the most easily manipulated people who’s ever lived. No, the truth is scarier. This is Trump working for & siding with Putin. This is Trump, the Russian asset.
Trump: "Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. It sounds a little strange but President Putin was very generous in his feeling toward Ukraine succeeding, including supplying energy, electricity and other things at very low prices."

America has 925 billionaires as of this year. Collectively they have a record $6.9 trillion in wealth.

The bottom 50% of Americans control $4.2 trillion in wealth.

When 925 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.
