We know that Hannibal is obsessed with entropy and the concept of reverse entropy (shattered teacups coming back together). I hadn’t previously thought about the trajectory of the show as being one of increasing entropy. Order into disorder. For everyone. But it totally is

This is a significant takeaway imo. Slop isn't a communication strategy.
One minor take-away from the NYC mayor's race for those concerned with AI/synthetic media and its effects on politics and elections might be that, in this particular instance, the guy who made a malicious deepfake lost and the guy who made authentic videos won.

You know when you're having a conversation with someone but the only person you want to be talking to right now isn't the one you're talking to, and you halfheartedly continue talking to the person you're actually having a conversation with while thinking "ugh I really wish this wasn't you" ????

This is an important conversation but I am struck that nowhere does the power of conservative media come up; indeed media is described as “progressive.” No mention of Rush Limbaugh and talk radio, Fox News, Twitter, or right-wing influencers with huge audiences.

My first husband died 8.5 years ago and I just cried because I just saw a Whole Foods in DC playing the Cal-Virginia Tech football game on TV and he’s the only one who would truly understand all the ways this makes me feel.

These moments are rare—the gut punch, the tears— but they do still happen.

Controversial? 🤭 But she absolutely deserved better than a broken empath who was still hung up on his serial killer ex boyfriend who was writing him letters from jail

This morning I woke up and immediately realized that it’s going to be one of those days where I have trouble controlling my emotions and it’s going to be utterly exhausting. I prefer to be able to compartmentalize but if I wake up like this I’m cooked 🙃🥲

Does anyone else experience this 😂

In 2023 I rage-deleted my OG Twitter account after my best friend and I broke up in spectacular fashion on a street in Berlin. We’d met on Twitter and that plus Elon had me in the mood to burn bridges.

However, I am such an archivist that I now regret that permanent decision. 😭

Donald Trump is stealing your money. It’s a message that is true and powerful and should be said explicitly at every turn.

Also history.
There's a reason why we don't want a king to dictate the provision of funds in the country, and it dates back to the English Civil War. @ryanlcooper.com with the expert explanation here (I just added some frippery, this is his piece):
