Human settlements should be highly engineered to meet as many needs as possible in as dense a space as possible; but, if you didn't know that they were designed, they should seem like the woods
Everybody talking about ignition interlocks and speed limiters when the real shit is that there should be a trolly to every neighborhood, most streets should be closed to cars, and you should have to give a reason why you need a car when you attempt to purchase one like buying a gun in Europe.

I am an advocate for the shadowy force. There isn't a vast trans conspiracy making people transition, but there should be
"I feel pressured to transition by a shadowy force" babe that's you. let her out
"feminine cis men dont have to be trans and yet they are being pushed to be by a Shadowy Force" is just the latest 2020s iteration of the psychoanalytical castration anxiety that drives all crises of masculinity in modernity (now in response to transness gaining public presence)

Whenever I've enountered someone who's had a strong opinion on gun control, in either a liberal or conservative direction, my first question has always been "do you know why California has the gun control regulations that they do?"
Just a reminder of where modern gun control movement got their start. Its not for the protection of minority peoples under attack.

I don’t want to concede “snob” to people who insist that you should read nothing indie and must read approved “canon.” its a time honored tradition of true snobbery to uplift obscure, niche shit no one else has heard of and lord it over everyone that only read the obvious.

The more I see how USAmericans who aren't leftists engage with politics, the more it reminds me of the decline of Taisho democracy to Showa statism; more than any other historical metaphor, though all metaphors are flawed

Less than 24 hours after @acvalens.net broke this story, it was removed from the site following direct intervention from VICE’s owners, who were reportedly uncomfortable with the subject matter.

Censoring a story on censorship is about as 2025 as it gets.
The censorship of 80+ games on Steam this week was apparently the work of Australian antiporn group Collective Shout, which partnered with US evangelicals to pressure Visa and Mastercard.

They claimed, without evidence, that the games involved child abuse.

Great work by @acvalens.net for VICE.
Group Behind Steam Censorship Policies Have Powerful Allies — And Targeted Popular Games With Outlandish Claims
The organization behind Steam's latest payment processor censorship, Collective Shout, appears to tell some misleading tales.

Went head to head with ChatGPT at the bar; the challenge was who could identify an 80's detective show first based on whatever clues the guy could remember. I figured out Hardcastle & McCormick before the AI did. Victory is mine

Has anyone done a cover of Sit Down By The Fire by the Pogues that's a slower, more ballad-y style? 'Cause that would slap, imo

A major reason we will never have a guarantee of bodily autonomy is that neither major political party has the political will or courage to place limits on routine infant circumcision due to fear of upsetting Christian, and to a lesser extent Jewish, voters.

We know because they've told us.

If you're a Canadian you might be wondering "a war for what", but you have to remember as climate change accelerates to appease capitalist interests the ongoing desertification of the Midwest and the thawing of the Canadian taiga and tundra will accelerate. When our breadbasket goes we're going to
Canadians seriously need to wake up and steel themselves to the idea of a shooting war with the US.

There are precisely zero signs of de-escalation from this regime, and we have an abundance of historical examples showing where it leads.

Appeasement is suicide.

Post a movie from the year you turned eighteen.

Fun fact about me; I watched this as part of an impromptu late-night movie marathon that also included I'm Thinking Of Ending Things and Don Hertzfeldt's short-film trilogy It's Such A Beautiful Day
