The dentist office is playing Family Feud (Steve Harvey has such a charm) and then started also playing soft pop music. And one receptionist takes her calls on speaker. It is a sensory nightmare.

Both Haley Carter and Michele Kang told me that they are "working with the league on solutions that allow us to retain" Trinity Rodman.

Carter's first day with the Spirit was Monday, and a resolution on Rodman is relatively imminent.

Haley Carter, who helped the Orlando Pride win the 2024 #NWSL Shield and Championship as VP/sporting director, is the Washington Spirit’s new president of soccer operations. In her expanded role, she will lead other leaders, which is “where the magic happens,” she told ESPN. Why she made the move 👇

NEW: It's a rare blockbuster move in the world of technical staffs of the NWSL — Haley Carter is heading to the District to serve as president of soccer operations.

I spoke to Haley and Michele Kang on the move, global ambitions (and, of course, Trinity Rodman). www.nytimes.com/athletic/685...

There's a lot in Jeff's article about the situation with Trin, which is important, but we mustn't forget that Haley vociferously defended Banda and Chilufya after the right came after them last year. Having someone like that leading our team will be so important.

Big Spirit announcement this morning. As soon as news broke that she was leaving Orlando, where Haley Carter would end up immediately became one of the big stories of the NWSL offseason.

Nathan Minion, who was interim GM after Mark Krikorian stepped down, becomes permanent GM.
Thrilled to announce the addition of Haley Carter as our new President of Soccer Operations! 🤗

Welcome to D.C., Haley! 💪 #RiseUp

You can not have a salary cap sooooo low you can not pay veteran and young players legitimate salaries. That is Not sustainable to keep players stateside let alone make a space for veteran players to play long term. No one is trying to watch daycare figure it out without vets you need balance.

Asked both Bethune & Morgan to speak about about Rose Kouassi:

Morgan: "Queen."
Bethune: "Baller."

Morgan again: "No one can match her. Like, no one can match her in the league. She's just got such brilliant timing for knowing when to turn on her pace and (snaps) blitz past someone."

Adrian Gonzalez says last week's win over Racing was physically/emotionally taxing, & he's really pleased that the team could bring that same energy today.

"I think the team has done a great job being locked in, believing until the end, playing as we want to be, with the personality that we have."

Come kickoff, the Spirit traded dramatics for dominance and outplayed the Thorns for a 2-0 win. Next up: Another trip to the NWSL final.

A bounty? Very slave catcher of them. This league is gonna have to take a stand at some point. There's no "both sides" to this. At some point, racism and transphobia have to be a deal breaker.
From @karleighchardonnay.bsky.social at Outsports:

Jennifer Sey, who said the NWSL had “several males” has issued a $10,000 bounty to the next player to “speak out like Elizabeth Eddy.” An anonymous donor added $5000. Clay Travis said he’d double it.
