You can not have a salary cap sooooo low you can not pay veteran and young players legitimate salaries. That is Not sustainable to keep players stateside let alone make a space for veteran players to play long term. No one is trying to watch daycare figure it out without vets you need balance.

Esme Morgan, Hal Hershfelt and Trinity Rodman sprinted down to the supporters’ section after the final whistle. Croix Bethune and others are in the crowd now.

Asked both Bethune & Morgan to speak about about Rose Kouassi:

Morgan: "Queen."
Bethune: "Baller."

Morgan again: "No one can match her. Like, no one can match her in the league. She's just got such brilliant timing for knowing when to turn on her pace and (snaps) blitz past someone."

Adrian Gonzalez says last week's win over Racing was physically/emotionally taxing, & he's really pleased that the team could bring that same energy today.

"I think the team has done a great job being locked in, believing until the end, playing as we want to be, with the personality that we have."

On what the next step for the team is

"I think the word that comes to mind is consistency... We have too much talent to not be more consistent with our performances"

"I truly believe the love that this team has for one another is what has led it as far as has."

"It's a tough one, I think we were a little but outplayed in the first half but we defended well like last week"

"It's been a hard season for sure... personally, it's probably been the toughest year of my career"

Some Thorns post-game quotes

Rob Gale "Tough way to end the season, maybe because of the nature of the goals we gave away...I just want to say how proud I am of our group, everybody... you saw how short of bodies we were even at the end there, no forwards to throw on"

Captain Sam Coffey

"Spirit is definitely the better team... they outplayed us for sure, they definitely have all the pieces to win the whole thing"

"I think we were just outplayed, we left it all out there, it wasn't for lack of effort"

"I am so proud of the group and all we've done this season"

Tara McKeown joked that the message in training ahead of today's semifinal was: "Please, girls, no more extra time."

Come kickoff, the Spirit traded dramatics for dominance and outplayed the Thorns for a 2-0 win. Next up: Another trip to the NWSL final.

A bounty? Very slave catcher of them. This league is gonna have to take a stand at some point. There's no "both sides" to this. At some point, racism and transphobia have to be a deal breaker.
From @karleighchardonnay.bsky.social at Outsports:

Jennifer Sey, who said the NWSL had “several males” has issued a $10,000 bounty to the next player to “speak out like Elizabeth Eddy.” An anonymous donor added $5000. Clay Travis said he’d double it.

NEAT.

I don’t believe that is quite true, Berman.
EXCLUSIVE:

spoke to #NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman this morning about Trinity Rodman and the salary cap, which doesn’t seem to be going anywhere

the salary cap, she said, is “the reason our league is the most competitive league in the world”

The NWSL floor is about the salary of an entry-level position that doesn't require a degree, even in the current economy. If you think 48k is any player's worth (or yours, honestly), idk if we're having the same conversation. Stars will always get paid. Others should, too. Ok, back to the football.

alyssa thompson should’ve been the wake up call, but since it wasn’t, if trin leaves then berman and the board of governors will have successfully transitioned the nwsl into a feeder league. congrats on those expansion fees tho.
