Since we're having a troll storm, why not pay a visit to my dissertation's new location on Scholarworks?

It's about how white supremacist extremism is mainstreamed via framing.

It was downloaded over 200 times before they moved it.

Writing about it while observing it irl was very stressful.
A Friendlier White Genocide Myth: How Framing Influences Support for Bigoted Immigration Policy
<p>The White Genocide Myth (WGM) is one of the most popular conspiracy theories among White supremacists and other antisemites, yet narratives derived from it are regularly featured in mainstream immi...

You're told it'll sabotage your career if you're a vocally politically opinionated, queer, woman. But things sabotaging my career are systemic xenophobia, sexism, and horrible job market. Which are a direct consequences of people not being vocally opinionated in the first place.

We have gotten so used to Great Replacement becoming normalized that most people hardly noticed that a racist, antisemitic, xenophobic conspiracy theory popularized by mass shooters and 4chan trolls is now government policy.
The U.S. State Department is repeating a white nationalist conspiracy theory.

On Friday, it claimed that “mass migration poses an existential threat to Western civilization.”

That line comes straight from the Great Replacement myth: the lie that immigration is a plot to erase white populations.

Since 03/2023, I:

*Moved countries x1
*Moved states x4
*Experienced variously legally actionable discriminatory work environments in 3 different hospitals
* Had 9 different preceptors across 4 clinical sites
*Kept a 3.92 GPA through poverty, housing instabilty and disability

I am fucking FRIED.
👋🏿 I'm 3 years into a fundraiser to support my journey of becoming a midwife, I'm STRUGGLING to take these very last steps. Finishing the $7889 left on this campaign would secure essential transportation to get to births and let me connect the pieces of my training and commitment to community birth.

thinking about the liberal politicians willing to try to compromise with fascists by abandoning minority groups they don't really like - i wish they understood that fascists will come for everyone eventually. even themselves. fascism unopposed is a ruined state with everyone dead

Oh hey! It’s me!

New article now available and Open Access.

Fact-checking doesn’t really work. If we want to understand what misinformation does, ethnography is super useful.

Come for the discussion of windmills and Elon Tweets, stay for the talk of the “Afrikaner Refugees.” It’s a wild time.

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

Unlinked non-sharing of information resources on social media is such a fascinating (and unhelpful) information behavior. I suspect there are a variety of motivations, social factors, and platform logics/folklores that drive people to do this (but you really should share links to resources).
People on here are constantly sharing screenshots of stories they think are important without linking to the original work, and then wondering why the media ecosystem is so broken. If you can't be bothered to even link to the work you're sharing, you're part of the problem!

Almost made it, just for the record

Would have made it if all that other stuff hadn't already been there
I had 3 bags of stuff, each weighing 6 lbs. The were loose in a larger plastic bag

In a fit of arrogance, I scorned my stepladder & attempted to get the 18 lb bag on an overhead shelf as though I was shooting a layup

I did not succeed

I'm fine. I'm no longer an atheist. Have a good day, everyone

Yeah, this is just what happens when a cult member steps out of line and starts to formulate a plan to be leader once the elderly cult leader dies. Still a believer/grifter.
DONT FALL FOR MTG’S BULLSHIT SHE IS STILL A VIOLENT ANTISEMITE WHO BLAMES JEWS FOR EVERYTHING WRONG IN THE WORLD A FULLY ENDORSES GREAT REPLACEMENT THEORY
Also, she fully believes a cabal of worldwide Jewish pedophiles control the government. She just thinks Trump has become compromised by them. Or possibly was secretly compromised the entire time.

Re-upping this today.

If you don't know enough to adequately anticipate how bad actors are likely to misuse your work, you're probably not ready to be investigating those questions.

If you do know and fail to adequately guard against it, you are not just complicit: you are a collaborator.
One of the first things taught in (good) social science research methods courses is how to frame your data accurately. This isn't just about choosing and understanding the correct method for your data and question, though that is part of it. It's also about correctly presenting data to your readers.

We need to acknowledge the role of imaginary grievance in far-right radicalization & extremism. It's motivator #1.

I know the puppy parade objects but it's dangerous to pretend that BS like "sometimes there's gay people outside & I don't feel like a man" are real problems which society must fix

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

What if peer review, committee meetings, strategic plans, promotion & tenure processes, and letter-writing requests are all part of a secret plot to keep smart, creative, active minds from thinking and writing the big ideas that would *really* change the world?
