What’s the point of voting for Democrats if they vote like Republicans? Primary Maggie Hassan. #nhpolitcs

By voting to reopen the government without any assurances on healthcare, Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen have ensured that the sacrifices made by furloughed government employees and families on SNAP were in vain. Primary them. #nhpolitics

All, most of you know by now what happened to me in February.

I've written an essay about this for @harpersbazaar.uol.com.br.web.brid.gy, and I hope you'll give it a read:
All The Women I Met in Jail
A law meant to help victims of domestic violence often results in their arrest. One woman details surviving abuse and the system that claimed to protect her.

the thing I hate most about that rfk quote is that autistic lives have value and worth and beauty and dignity whether they are able to do the things other people do or not. no one is defined by ability or lack thereof and to frame divergence as lack is monster stuff, utterly godless

Gosh. If only there were an historical analogue we could study to learn about the horrors of rounding people up without due process and sending them to torture camps in other countries.

My senators have repeatedly capitulated to Trump, and I am sick of it. Anyone want to primary Maggie Hassan?
The Senate voted 56 to 44 to advance Trump's FDA commissioner, who was a "herd immunity" supporter during COVID.

3 Democrats joined Republicans in voting yes:
Durbin
Hassan
Shaheen

The contrast with Gavin Newsom could not be stronger or less flattering to him.
"Let's not take the soul-sucking path of sacrificing the most persecuted for that which we deem to be most popular. I know that there are transgender children right now looking out at this world and wondering if anyone is going to stand up for them and for their simple right to exist. Well, I am."

Good post, and imo conveys a respect for readers that many outlets simply think is beneath them to display. For all the handwringing about How Do We Rebuild Trust In Media, little stuff like this is a helpful part of the answer!
On Tuesday I edited a story about the FTC firings. Readers took issue with our framing — not just us, but other publications as well. And you know what? Y'all were right. www.theverge.com/policy/63339...
We ran the wrong headline about the fired FTC commissioners

Getting rid of the office that oversees the YDCF abuse scandal because why exactly - to save de minimus cash? NH has an ongoing obligation to right this wrong. It sounds a little like the NH House Finance GOP is trying to bury this wrong. #NHPolitics
The Office of the Child Advocate is instrumental in keeping NH children safe, + even recently uncovered abuse happening to NH children placed out of state.

Today, Finance GOP voted to abolish the Office, just to cut 0.0062% from the $16 billion state budget.

They strongly recommend trans youth care and slam the
