The reference to California gives away the game. The court should be considering the Texas case under its own legal situation, which was completely different than the CA voter-enacted law.
The fact that both the unsigned 6–3 majority opinion and Alito's concurrence (for Alito, Thomas, and Gorsuch) open with a reference to California's redistricting leaves one with the strong impression that this decision, like California's, is about tit for tat.

They’re putting ads into AI results. It gets shittier and shittier. I hadn’t fully appreciated that their master plan is 1) push AI into every product conceivable and then 2) load it with shitty ads. Nuke these companies
