The ability to wave a foreign flag at an American protest and be regarded as someone doing their civic duty is exactly the kind of aspirational American exceptionalism we need to embrace, actually.
If you see a Mexican flag at a protest and it makes you uncomfortable, that's because you're uncomfortable. Not some hypothetical guy whose opinion you're invested in. That is your discomfort. You need to deal with that. Not the person with a flag, not the hypothetical guy. You.
