Colorado losing hundreds of Space Command jobs because of how they vote is pure retaliation and an abuse of power. No state should be targeted for participating in democracy. I’ll keep fighting for every Americans’ right to vote without fear of vengeance.

Welp this is horrific.

"Data broker owned by major airlines sells passenger info to US govt for warrantless surveillance" is already a sentence where each 2-4 word phrase is worse than the last, but then fuck knows what other shit said govt is going to get up to *w/* that data now that they have it
New from 404 Media: airlines are selling *5 billion* ticketing records to the government for warrantless searching, per new docs we obtained. ARC is a data broker owned by United, American, Delta, etc. Then sells peoples' travel info to ICE, Secret Service, FBI etc www.404media.co/airlines-sel...

If you’re wondering how many paragraphs it takes for them to mention any of the more unsavory aspects of Sliwa’s history — like the time literally last year his men beat up a guy in Times Square on live TV and then he lied about it — the answer is, “It literally never comes up.”
cnn.com CNN @cnn.com · Sep 14
Curtis Sliwa’s preferred campaign mode is riding the subway. He boards trains in the back car, then chats and handshakes his way forward, one by one, through the riders that he leaves just with a business card about his candidacy.

Stay away from this country if you’re a tourist. It isn’t safe here. Not for citizens, and certainly not for visitors or foreign workers. We are a lawless nation under siege by its own government, and at war with itself. The United States as you knew, no longer exists. You’d fare better in Sudan…

Someone framed antivax sentiment as a sign of decadence in our society and that framing has helped me think about the failure to recognize the societal value of economic stability, democracy and knowledge production
People have been saying this about US antivax sentiment for years - that it's a narrow-minded product of people who haven't seen what real suffering from infectious disease looks like.

Now we are extending that to... democracy? Economic stability? Everything else?

We need you--every single one of you-- in the US to stand up, right now, and fight for NSF, NIH, USGS, NASA, USDA. Agencies Congress empowered to serve the public with impactful science and innovation. This is not a drill. This is our last stand. After this, there will be nothing left to fight for.
