Library hold came in, so now I've seen the Mrs. Maisel Superman movie. Lots to like, a few headscratchers, and my primary complaint at the moment is that Eve Teschmacher deserved a little more dignity.

Started reading Ann Leckie's The Raven Tower, got worried that I'd already read it, and then realized a story from the Lake of Souls collection is set in the same world.

Immediately thought of @tkingfisher.com's author's note in A Sorceress Comes to Call... all this time it was a failed mafia hit.

My mom and stepdad are from the same diaspora group as Zohran Mamdani’s dad (same like “my stepdad was kicked out of the same town and knows some of his classmates”) and apparently the New York Times doesn’t understand how diaspora works, so I am going to tell you a little about my mom’s people!

Hey, who wants something nice?

So I was on tour this month, and when I was doing my event for the Princeton University Library and the Princeton Public Library, I ended up at the graveyard, where I found this gravestone:

The White House had repeatedly said the funding freeze would not affect benefits that go directly to individuals.

How do people get sick FROM going to the ER? I had the unfortunate experience of going this weekend (it's fine thanks!) and looking at the #UVM #VT medical center was an eye opening example of how we have utterly FUMBLED on stopping the spread of disease in medical spaces 🧵

Got an email from BTV, link to "where we fly" page in the email is broken. Navigate to the page, see that flights to Orlando and Tampa are served by "Fronter" Airlines.

I think cis ppl misunderstand the danger people like JS pose.

When the guy came for me, I had him blocked but bc he put me on blast, I got over 800 unique accounts sending me threats & suicide bait in *just a few hours*.

The only thing that saved me was locking my account which you CAN'T DO HERE.

The latest outrage is an email I received that had this as the first paragraph. What's worse, that they don't know when the twelve days of Christmas actually starts, or that they don't realize that if it did start on the 13th, the twelfth day would be Dec 24? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_...

Going on a Sleigh Ride in my mind today. Glenn Miller died 80 years ago, and a band formed in his memory has been playing since 1956. The "Sleigh Ride" piece was written in 1948, and this recording is from 1991.

Somewhere between St. Michaels College and the Champlain Valley Exposition is the point at which Google Maps flips from suggesting you hop on I-89 vs continue on 2A.

(I was initially surprised at the directions to St. Michaels; without Google Maps I would have stayed on 2A) #vt

Interesting claim on www.btv.aero/flights regarding the environmental impact of flying. www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.a... does suggest the carbon footprint of driving to NYC in a reasonably efficient automobile is about the same as flying. 🤔

Finished @tkingfisher.com's A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking! Among its many virtues, it is an excellent antidote to feeling powerless in this moment and a sober reminder to adults to step up. Be sure to read the author's note about the book's route to publication -- a story in its own right!
