Mirra Andreeva and Conchita Martinez have one of the best coach/player relationships you’ll ever see.

Mirra made a poster to cheer for Conchita in the Legends event at Wimbledon 😭😭😭

This is Mrs. Florence Bell, the first nurse to go to the Royal Veterinary College of London. This is a cigarette card from my collection and in the info about her on the back it says “the more she sees of humans, the better she likes animals”. 1938.

If you’re not from Manitoba, you may not have ever seen one of these before. This is a bombardier. Designed in 1937 in Quebec, these were originally used as rural ambulances and school buses. Adopted by commercial fisherman in Manitoba’s Interlake, you still see them regularly in winter. 1/2

Novak Djokovic pulls it off 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 against Carlos Alcaraz

A vintage performance from Novak, who is into the Semifinals yet again in Melbourne. That may be one of the sweetest wins of his entire career.

Yes. I do not love the attitude that finding sparks of hope and joy is somehow naive. As someone who was diagnosed with a chronic illness at a young age and has been involved in activism most of my life I can tell you that seeking out happiness is not a luxury, it’s an essential survival skill*.
Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive
