By the way, my take on this is that if you don’t know where to start, seek out local DSA, NAACP, and Black Lives Matter chapters. They might not be the right home for you, but they give you an opportunity to meet people and start figuring things out.
I want people to stop posting vague advice like “build community”

A lot of people don’t know how to start. Post practical things like “here’s a list of mutual aid groups to connect with” or something

Respectfully (and I genuinely mean this), I’ve never heard a single regular person ask for “bipartisanship.” That’s inside nonsense.

They want things to work.

If the other party refuses to work for people, be the ones who will. Fight for people. Make it plain who isn’t, and who THEY’RE for.
It is time to look to the future.

The challenges that face America are many and great.

The Senate must respond with resolve, bipartisanship, and fidelity to the working and middle class of this country.

I worked on the Hill when the Dems first took Congress in 2006, then Obama won in 2008

Some Rs (mostly moderates) were terrified of the new Obama coalition

Many were open to collaboration

But then McConnell positioned the entire party as stark opposition

Worked pretty well for him politically
All Dems have to do is concede nothing. They can offer votes for real Republican concessions—abolition of the debt limit, congressional tariff review, DREAM Act etc., no GOP riders—but not a single vote for GOP-only bills simply to save Republicans from themselves.

Arguably the most glaring flaw of capitalism is sometimes some really stupid people make it really big, and then everyone assumes because they are rich they must be smart.

Amazon, Trader Joe’s, and SpaceX are all fighting in court to have the NLRB declared unconstitutional.
All three companies have a disgraceful history of worker abuse and union busting.
They can’t stop workers from organizing, so now they want to destroy the whole system.

Gonna say this one last time: there is no such thing as a digital public square.

It is a myth, a narrative about what social media platforms should be and how we should participate in them, that has been cooked up by a bunch of assholes who do not want to be held accountable for their bullshit.

A vibrant queer life will always require certain guaranteed rights that dictators will not abide: Freedom of expression and association, freedom from religion, bodily autonomy. These are anathema to the reactionary mind, particularly when paired with an expansive vision of community and democracy

There’s no take backs on fascism. There’s no easy undo button. You don’t get a do-over on both-sidesing the big ol whoopsie of mass suppression and cruelty. Not adequately portraying the threat is both awfully short sighted and almost always viewed as complicity in the eyes of history.

i understand why it's difficult to get rid of him, it would be worthwhile to ask members of congress why they've allowed us to be put in this difficult position rather than just let them complain about how hard it will be to get out of it.
