I caught a clip talking about the moon landing being fake and every time I hear that crap now I think of the hard work Miss Katherine and her team did to get us up there.

Do feel like the theatre kids could start using their powers for good and doing a cappella singalongs of full musicals in politically expedient places. Weaponized annoyingness if you will

Yes.
Also to be clear, hope is NOT toxic positivity. Hope is not passive.

My hope is active, determined, protective, viscous, and vengeful.

Just to be clear, this is already illegal and prevented by current legislation, which should be enforced.

What is the enforcement plan for the new legislation?
Schumer: "Today Leader Jeffries and I are joining together to push legislation to prevent unlawful meddling in the Treasury Department's payment systems and protect Americans across the country ... we call our legislation, 'stop the steal'"

This is where we are now: A city in Northern California isn’t just making homelessness illegal—it’s criminalizing those who *help* people living on the street.

Under a new ordinance, “aiding or abetting” an encampment would be a misdemeanor, punishable by a $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail.

A reminder that fiction — books, film, games, what have you — is always political. The willful absence of “politics” in any work is itself a political choice and a political act. Who gets to tell (and sell) stories is political. It might be an undercurrent — covert, not overt. But it’s there.

👋 Hello!
hi does anyone on this app like femme rage, 30 year old FMCs, Arthurian legend, Hozier-coded MMCs and old-school faerie folklore?

Civil rights were won through protests and lawsuits and literally fighting back. We are not in unprecedented times. We are in a horrible reboot of Reconstruction. Fight in every way possible. Flood those anti DEI tiplines with misinformation, spend 10 minutes every day telling your reps to stop this

Last night's gathering was a huge motivation boost for me to work on my current manuscript diligently this weekend, and I was reminded to have fun with it! I was also encouraged to create my own writing space at home despite how small my apartment is thanks to Stacy 😊
We had such a wonderful time meeting all our local writers last week, and decided there's enough need and interest that we're going to make Fri nights Writing Salon Night at the Bookstore. Come mingle with other writers or take some time to write, then at 7 we'll have discussions on writing topics.

Timely reminder that there will be a spattering of posts about romance as a whole, and probably some really sex repellent stuff because we're in a sex panic right now. Don't give them your energy.

I was Episcopalian before I converted. Served in the choir and served as an acolyte.

In the 80s and 90s the prayers of the people included those with AIDS and those who give them care. My church welcomed trans and queer congregants in the 80s.

There were some clues is all I'm saying.

Thank 👏 you 👏
I find it ridiculous that so many popular books get boiled down to "Faerie smut" or "dragon smut" when they're, objectively, just not. Calling 50 shades "Mommy P*rn" was derogatory but at least that book was spicy AF. ACOTAR and Fourth Wing are fantasy novels that also have romance and sex in them.

it’s wildly irresponsible for mainstream media to call romantasy books “smut” or “p*rn” in out-of-context headlines during an era of increasing book bans and purity culture hysteria.

this mischaracterization and willful ignorance of an entire genre is how you normalize book bans.
