I'm one of the writers who wrote an homage to The Daughter of Time, this is a terrific read, but of course it's terrific, it was written by @sarahweinman.com

“A Mystery Novel Like No Other Before.” On Josephine Tey’s The Daughter of Time
I wish I could remember when I first read Josephine Tey’s The Daughter of Time—I must have been around twenty—but I certainly remember how much I loved it, which has only grown with every reread. I…

For profit insurance is immoral. Full stop. An insurers' job isn't to "protect from unnecessary care"; it is to pay for customers care. Every dollar of profit earned is a dollar that didn't provide care to the sick/injured. It is an evil industry captained by the soulless for the sake of the greedy.

Stop worrying that the pages aren't good enough.

If they aren't good enough, you'll make them good enough when you edit. Sometimes, you have to see a thing on the page before you know exactly what it is supposed to be.

The rights words often only come after the wrong ones.

One thing I will never understand about “we need the profit motive for Big Pharma to make new and exciting drugs” is that by and large the people who are making new and exciting drugs just get paid normal salaries.

I genuinely believe everyone should attempt to read Moby Dick at least once. Yes it's long. But I'm telling you it is such a fascinating source of period whaling practices mixed with a genuinely interesting narrative about the brutality of working on a 19th century whaling ship

“There’s something wrong about Suburban Star Wars, the way there’s something wrong about the garbled, inaccuracy-laden “writing” and mutant-handed “art” patched together from stolen work by AI.”
A caveat: The next two eps are much more like it. That said, the premiere of the new Star Wars show Skeleton Crew is one of the most viscerally repellent works of art I've ever seen and I'm not even joking. My notes included the words "disgusting" "repulsive" & "ghastly." A vile nostalgia turducken.

What’s gonna happen when we crack open this show’s cargo hold?

Echo chamber? I don't know what they're talking about.

I'm experiencing books and music and shows created by people with life experiences vastly different from mine.

Voices not like mine are beautiful.

It's the echoes of the hateful voices I have no desire to hear.
