it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

At this point, we have to consider whether a pandemic is their goal. Beyond RFK's eugenicist fantasies, a pandemic would offer pretext for various 'emergency powers' not to mention suspending elections, etc.
“Should the administration seek rapid changes to vaccine ingredients, certain shots could become less available and protection against dangerous diseases that haven’t been a widespread threat in decades — including measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, and polio — could wither.”
Trump and RFK Jr. are mulling their most disruptive vaccine policies yet — alarming manufacturers
Trump and Kennedy are considering removing aluminum from vaccines and breaking up shots that protect against multiple diseases.

Makes me think of stories of German soldiers who went back as tourists to the cities they’d occupied in WWII, totally surprised at the locals who didn’t want to see them
Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

🌍 42.5m refugees
Over 70% of them are hosted by low- and middle-income countries.

🇬🇧 548k refugees
= 0.78% of the UK population.

It is not refugees who tear our country apart, it is the mainstreaming of far right policies. And that’s a risk to all of us.

The work that Jessica does here developing an idea of music as 'multimodal, multisensory' is SO philosophically important as people in that field CONTINUE to treat 'sound' or 'listening' as like uniquely auditory and ear-and-voice-based phenomena
The book challenges the misconceptions associated with deafness and hearing in Western music through engaging with the musical endeavors of culturally deaf, oral deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing disabled musicians, while imparting a multimodal, multisensory conception of music and musicianship.

Something centre-right journalists absolutely love is the "enrages environmentalists" framing

It presents climate / enviro folks as irrational, salivating and constantly infuriated idiots, whereas 'centrist' pro-fossil politicians are Very Serious, level-headed Adults In The Room

The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

Absolutely this. (Barely) plausible deniability has greased every damn cog in the machine the drove us here.
I hope the people who need to learn the lessons offered today are starting to realize that when you endlessly give certain folks the benefit of the doubt, this is the kind of evil that happens.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.
