How much bicarbonate is in a tablet of sodium bicarbonate
This came up on rounds today. I thought I covered this on the blog before but if I did, Google failed me. The answer is 7.7 mEq of Na and 7.7 mEq of HCO3 in every 650 mg tablet of baking soda. This is just 650 mg divided by the molecular weight of NaHCO3, 84 mg/mmol.
