My dog Callie just had emergency gallbladder removal surgery and is still in recovery. Unfortunately it has been very expensive, so if anyone could help either through sharing or donating, I would appreciate it so much! Thank you ❤

I don't think this is the whole reason but I know a reason people stay over there is fandom (and with fans and fandom, comes $$$), and I don't think that will change unless a true alternative fandom space is created.
I realize posting this here is preaching to the choir. But after the Grok White Genocide thing & Ye essentially launching an exclusive Neo Nazi single on the platform... I felt motivated to write about X and how bizarre it is that so many people (news outlets, celebrities, politicians) use it
What Are People Still Doing on X?
Imagine if your favorite neighborhood bar turned into a Nazi hangout

Malinowski: A couple of years ago, Vance gave a speech.. The title was universities are the enemy. He said explicitly, we cannot achieve anything in this country as a conservative movement unless we aggressively go after the universities. That's what they're doing right now

Took me a bit to process how big a deal this report actually is--its thus far the only review to look at the entire body of currently available research. It took two years to conduct, stands at 1,000 pages, and completely contradicts the Cass Review and the common arguments for bans on this care.
Republicans in Utah commissioned an investigation into gender-affirming care for trans youth after banning it in 2023.

They're now rejecting the findings of that investigation which showed access to care reduced suicides and improved "positive mental health and psychosocial functioning outcomes."
Utah lawmakers’ own study found gender-affirming care benefits trans youth. Will they lift the treatment ban?
The Utah Legislature's own newly-released study found that gender-affirming care benefits trans youth. Now, will lawmakers lift the treatment ban?

There's no way I'm getting all these grades in on time...I really dropped the ball on grading this entire semester ._.

Not me buying $30+ worth of cookies and ice cream in a panic move upon realizing I have 24 hours less than I thought to finish grading for the semester

Ngl seeing that article about how so many students are overly relying on genAI and how that is severely harming their abilities to do...anything makes me doubly annoyed that the tenure-track position I was replaced by specifically wanted someone who is "proficient in genAI"

If so many professors are forcing personal, course-unrelated politics into classes, shouldn’t there be hundreds of unambiguous cases?
Allow me to suggest the GOP attack on academia is the politicized thing. That it’s bad faith, based on evidence like “Charlie Kirk said” or “Ilya Shapiro complained…”

empathy is important, people falling down those rabbit holes NEED to know that you their loved ones will be there for them when and if they leave

but empathy must be paired with a hard line. "No I do not believe this. No I will not debate certain things. If you cross this line we no longer talk."
I think this comes from a good place but I disagree. A common thread in deradicalization stories is stigma: Once people start losing friends and jobs they reconsider their beliefs.

Obviously you should try to be nice to people but you also need to draw a line where you won’t engage anymore.

The Constitution forbids bribery *3 separate times*.

So important to the Founders they included two emoluments clauses, and made it the only named impeachable offense besides treason.

The Constitution is clear on banning bribery. It's just that Congress and the courts decided to pretend otherwise.
I’m still baffled at how America took one of the basic principles of the presidency — the occupant shouldn’t be able to benefit financially from the office — and just said, nah, that just doesn’t count for this one guy.
An international trucking logistics firm is buying as much as *** $20 MILLION *** worth of President Donald Trump’s crypto coins to influence the administration’s trade policy.

The United Nations' food stocks for families in Gaza depleted a week ago. Children are being deliberately starved by Israel, and it is all being done openly.
Since the 2nd of March, Israel has been preventing food from entering the Gaza Strip.

People are quick to make comparisons between US democratic backsliding and places like Hungary and Turkey, but the American South pre VRA is the better comparison. So much US history revolves around racial authoritarianism and the current moment is no exception 1/x

A finance prof just asked me how long I believe this whole tariff war could go on because it doesn't make sense and I think I blew his mind when I basically said "yeah I don't think he or Reps care because they seem to be wanting to move to competitive authoritarianism where they're the victors."

Is it really too much to ask media outlets reporting on invading Greenland & Canada to lead with "THIS IS WILDLY ILLEGALLY UNDER BOTH OUR NATO AND UN TREATY COMMITMENTS, WHICH ARE ALSO PART OF US LAW"? The normalization of this is wildly inappropriate & there is no excuse for it.

Why is it that “liberals” are the only ones who need to make compromises or have agency in these situations? Why do they need to have relations with evangelicals, who pretty universally believe they’re in league with Satan? Why would you say this?
If abortion, marriage equality, trans rights, etc. are becoming red lines for liberals in a way they weren't 10 or 15 years ago that's going to strain liberal-evangelical relations in a way you can't really fix by like allowing a cake shop to turn away gay couples
