Has anyone else found @NS&I almost impossible to deal with? Trying to buy premium bonds for grandchild but NS&I won’t let me as her account is blocked “for credit checking” I have no idea why! They don’t seem to want the investment.

70% of the additional spending from removing the two-child limit will go to families who are in work. This is targeting support for low-income working households who are being priced out of a decent standard of living despite doing everything asked of them.

Good to see govt scrapping 2 child limit. But shameful that it has taken so long

Fully repealing the two-child limit is by far the best way to ensure fewer children are growing up in poverty.

Half measures have been mooted, but our modelling reveals that they would all still lead to an increase in child poverty by the end of the decade.

The govt and the electorate must understand that child poverty is not only hugely detrimental in the present. It shapes population wellbeing for generations to come. The evidence is so clear on the lifecourse health effects of poverty.

The top priority is scrapping the two-child limit for all children. This is the most cost-effective way to reduce child poverty.

"We would all be better off if child poverty was reduced. And the most efficient, the quickest, the easiest, and the most politically, morally and socially justified way of doing that would be to lift the cap. We would all be better off as a consequence of that."

With less than a month to go before the Budget, the group have written to Rachel Reeves to warn that more than half of larger families could fall into poverty as a direct result of the cap.

None of the proposed two-child limit options are as efficient in lifting children out of poverty as fully scrapping the policy.

Fully abolishing the two-child limit should be the starting point of any successful Child Poverty Strategy.

Not taking a penny in benefits? So ppl with indefinite leave in low paid jobs won’t be able to claim child benefit or universal credit?
Mahmood says she will introduce new conditions for indefinite leave to remain:

Being in work
Not taking a penny in benefits
No criminal record

The two-child benefit cap doesn't just increase child poverty, hardship and deprivation, it offends against the basic principles of the welfare state.

The most cost-effective way to reduce child poverty is to abolish the two-child limit, which would cost £7,480 per child lifted out of poverty.

If it is not scrapped then one-in-three children will be in poverty by 2029-39, including half of children in large families 👉 buff.ly/oiV5Re2
