Labour had 14 years in opposition but failed to use this time to formulate strategic plans to improve the way the state operates. Hence this disappointing, muddled budget and other areas of policy failure.

Don’t forget the single parents who are unable to work and have 3 children. If they are paying rent(extremely likely) many won’t get any more money because of the total benefit cap which will remain in place.

70% of the additional spending from removing the two-child limit will go to families who are in work. This is targeting support for low-income working households who are being priced out of a decent standard of living despite doing everything asked of them.

If Labour and the Tories want to avoid a Reform government in 2029 they should move to PR for that general election. Then we’d get a centrist coalition and politics would become less confrontational. People might also feel it is worth voting again

Policy failure by successive governments so that they (or LAs) are paying through the nose for private rentals or homeless accommodation, and families are living in often poor and overcrowded places.
