My student's paper on enzymatic remodelling to generate anionic glycan arrays has just been published online in @jbiolchem! Various recombinant glycosyl- or sulphotransferases were employed to prepare glycan motifs tested with various lectins. #glycotime

New from Elsevier, a way to skip reading what the authors wrote and instead have an LLM tell you what it thinks are important/relevant details.

Many times I've encountered a throwaway sentence in a paper that starts a whole set of rewarding experiments. This approach ensures that doesn't happen.

I guess we need more unusual glycan standards, e.g., with GlcA or PC, to increase coverage of, e.g., insect structures! The 83% for MMF seems high for Sf9-produced Spike, unless the BEI stuff is very different from Novavax.

We checked with untargeted SUGA to be sure (negative mode only), but only saw the more simple structures compared to what you’ve reported.
There’s a chance there was further processing involved of the spike protein by the manufacturer (like ion exchange) which may have depleted charged modifications
